Book Description

From New York Times bestselling author Helena Newbury, the second in the Fenbrook Academy series. Sheltered cellist Karen is horrified when she's forced to team up with bad boy guitarist Connor in order to graduate. But as they rehearse together, sparks fly--can they both admit their feelings, or will their pasts trap them until it's too late? (Full blurb below).

Want more? Get Losing My Balance, the 30,000 word Neil and Clarissa novella, absolutely free just for joining my mailing list at helenanewbury.com!

A self-contained romance with no cliff hanger ending! This book focuses on a new couple, but also features characters from the first book (Natasha & Darrell, Clarissa & Neil and Jasmine). You can jump in with this one or pick up Dance For Me to get more backstory on the secondary characters.

Note for Dance For Me readers: this book is longer (100,000 words) and more explicit than Dance For Me.

Everyone expects her to succeed...
Karen plays the cello like an angel, and it's the only thing that makes her truly feel alive. But her father's dream--for her to join a prestigious orchestra--leaves no time in her life for anything but music...not even love. Trapped on her path, she doesn't know how to rebel.

Everyone expects him to fail...
Connor plays rock guitar like the devil himself, and his ability has got him all the way from a dead-end life in Belfast to a scholarship at Fenbrook Academy. But beneath his arrogance and charm, he doesn't believe he has what it takes. He's spent his time in New York drinking and partying, and the only future he sees is a return to Ireland as soon as he flunks out.

But what no one expects...
When Karen's duet partner is injured, the bad boy guitarist and the shy, sheltered cellist are forced to team up. Neither likes the idea, but what begins as anger and distrust slowly spirals into love...and lust. If they can face up to their feelings, they might just have a chance together. If Connor will allow Karen to stop his fall, maybe he can show her a life she never thought possible...

This New Adult Romance is recommended for readers 17+ - adult themes and sexual scenes.

An extract

At that moment, someone opened the door from the outside and I went stumbling backwards--right off the edge of the top step. Dragged down by the cello's weight, I fell with a surprisingly loud scream, my head heading for the sidewalk--

I snapped to a halt, the cello case pressing hard into my back. I was lying in mid air, face up, feet skittering at the top step. Almost all of my weight was held by one shoulder strap, stretched out in front of me and anchored by....

I followed the strap with my eyes. A fist, grabbing the nylon. A strong wrist, skin almost as pale as mine. A cracked leather jacket. I got all the way to the shoulder and his tight, powerful frame before it clicked.

Oh no.....

I looked up into his face. Blue-gray eyes, like a lazy summer's day that's darkening into a storm. Hair cut short and messy, glossy black against his pale skin. And the lips--those soft, full lips that had been the downfall of so many Fenbrook girls in downtown rock clubs or at drug-fueled parties. Even now, they were twisting into a smirk.

Connor Locke.

"I seem to have you helpless," he told me, and his broad Belfast accent made it sound at once both innocent and absolutely filthy. The actors who'd been coming to help reached the doorway and stopped there, smiling.

"Would you like me to lay you down on your back?" he asked, at least partially for their benefit. "Or should I pull you up against me?"

I closed my eyes, feeling myself flushing even more than before. When I opened them, he was still holding me up. It felt like he could have held me there all day, if he'd wanted to.

"Up," I said quietly, and he hauled me slowly upwards. As promised, he didn't step out of the way, so that when I had my footing again on the top step I was right up against him, our faces inches apart. He was wearing some scent that made me think of big, cold skies and icy rocks.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Gosh where do I even begin? I loved Dance For Me, and couldn't wait to get started on Karen's story. I fell in love with all my favorite characters all over again, and met some gorgeous new ones. In Harmony was so much more, I can't really describe the 'more' but holy skittles was it amazing! This book had me swooning, cheering, cracking up with laughter, screaming in frustration and gave me warm fuzzies." - Alii's Book Jungle

"IN HARMONY was just...amazing. It practically blew me out of the room, I just couldn't put it down!" - Sunshine Fiction Reviews 5/5

"This book has it all and I recommend this to all New Adult/Romance fans. I can't wait for more from this author." - Confessions of a Book Whore

"So, this one, yeah, HOT! Man there is just something about a guy with an accent...Conner is just my kind of guy..." - My Bookmark Blog 5/5

From the Author

The first book focused on a dancer. This one focuses on two very different musicians and if you've read Dance For Me you'll find it's quite a different sort of romance--slow-burning and with lots of denial until things finally explode.... Natasha and Darrell, Clarissa and Neil and Jasmine all return and we find out how their whirlwind romances from the first book are working out. Dance For Me was all about the past. This book is all about the future--and what you're prepared to sacrifice to get what you want.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Adult novel September 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Karen is an extremely introverted cello player and student at Fenbrook. Conner is a bad-boy-Irish-rock-star in training that just doesn't understand. Circumstances beyond their control force them to work together despite their obvious differences.

The first book in the Fenbrook Academy series Dance For Me (Fenbrook Academy #1) was my favorite Summer read of 2013, so I had high expectations for this installment. I was not disappointed. I liked that Karen was kind of geeky, but still a pretty girl. I could totally understand Connor's attraction to her. The writer did a good job of introducing Connor as a bad boy, without making him douchey. This book was angsty without being overly depressing, which is a refreshing departure from most of the new adult books I've read lately. Karen is friends with the heroine from Dance For Me. Which means Natasha, Darrell, Clarissa, and Neil also make appearances throughout. Good news for anyone leery of starting an incomplete series; this book features a different couple. Which makes it is very easy to follow without reading the previous book.

5.0 out of 5 stars So glad I found this book! September 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I found Helena Newbury through the amazing New Adult Romance box set (Adult Romance Boxed Bundle ebook that was chock full of 5 awesome books, one of which was Dance For Me, the first in the Fenbrook series.

I highly recommend you also one-click up Dance For Me. It is clever and emotional and introduces the fascinating cast of characters we see continued here in In Harmony. Dance For Me was lovely, but, wow, this installment is spectacular. Karen is the quiet musician amongst a group of four girlfriends, which includes two intense ballerinas and a glamorous actress. They are all students at the Fenbrook College of performing arts in Manhattan. The setting, the characters and storylines are all sexy, exciting and engrossing.

Karen has lived a sheltered life controlled by her musician father. She is one duet recital away from realizing her dream of joining the New York Philharmonic when her partner is mugged, resulting in an injury that knocked him out of the recital. Karen has to scramble to find a partner or lose everything. The stakes are high and lead her to the sexy bad boy Connor Locke.

Sigh. Connor Locke. I am not really a "book boyfriend" kind of reader, but I have to make an exception for Connor. Gah - he is a funny, complex and super-hot electric guitarist who forgoes dropping out of Fenbrook to help Karen. And Irish! Did I mention he is Irish, too. Sigh again! They work together to create a never before seen musical collaboration and the chemistry between them is nuclear. The description of their musical relationship is remarkable, by the way.

Overall, this book is just lovely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! September 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Oh my goodness, I never knew cellos could be so sexy!

Karen and Connor are the sweetest couple I've read in a long while. Karen is pressured by her dad to overperform, and Connor doesn't want to appear as though he cares... I saw the first plot twist coming but then things take a turn for the crazy and Karen and Connor are thrown together.

One scene just took my breath away, when they are practicing in the same room and they are forced to be super close and then when Connor wraps his arms around her to try and play the cello: WOOOHEEEBOY! Although Karen is so uber reluctant to get involved, I totally understood her point of view. When I was a high school girl, a boy asked me out and I looked at him and said "Uh, why?" - Karen is TOTALLY the same kind of oblivious I was, lol! I could really relate to her kind of insecure fumbling around for love.

In the end, though, all is right with the world, and this is such a fast read that I got Dance With Me and I can't wait for the others!! This is a universe of awesome characters and they're all tied into each other so well. Pick this up for sure if you like sweet college romances that turn spicy, you will be aching for Karen and Connor to get together by the end and this book does not disappoint!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely a great story in the series July 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Read book #1 first...very important.
I could feel the characters emotions as they learned about themselves then continuing into learning about not only love but trust.
At times I couldn't turn my reader off, so caught up in the story. As much as I liked book #1...I like book #2 even better.
Thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT March 2, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
SUMMER'S BOOK BLOG

Now this was one hot book. Another great read by this wonderful author.

A electric guitar playing bad boy and the refined cello playing girl, combine these two together and what do you get? A beautiful couple that is a masterpiece even Mozart could not have composed better himself.

A beautifully written book filled with HOT love scenes, wonderfully developed characters, angst, love and humor.

Karen is a shy reserved talented Cello player. Her dreams are to play in the New York Philharmonic and she is single mindedly driven to achieve her dreams. To prove herself and her family that she can do it.

Connor is a gorgeous bad boy who plays the electric guitar. An Irish hunk with many layers and once you get past the mask he has on he is an amazing man.

They meet out of desperation on Karen's part, her partner can not perform with her and she needs a replacement or all her dreams are shattered. She then hears about Connor and how he doesn't have a partner yet, seeking him out like a heat guided missile. He is her ticket to achieving her dreams but maybe, just maybe he is her salvation as well.

Thru music a loved is formed. It is not instant but it is a slow build up of trust, laughter, tears, and finally passion. The chemistry and attraction is however extremely hot and powerful.

Again Helena does an outstanding job in describing all the technical aspects of music and while reading a romance you will also learn more about this beautiful lyrical world you never knew before.

In this exciting setting two partners become more. They grow as musicians and as individuals overcoming their fears and insecurities.

More About the Author

Need to contact me? helenanewburyauthor@gmail.com

I'm a New Adult romance author who loves writing about what happens when love and dreams collide with the real world. I wrote my first novel, Dance for Me, in daily chunks in a very busy, very noisy coffee shop, which meant I had to order a black Americano every hour, on the hour, to keep my seat and wound up wired on caffeine most days. Unlike my characters, I can't dance. My second book, In Harmony, is just out.

I recently hit the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists, which I'm still in shock about.
