About the Author

Dr. E. W. Kenyon (1867—1948) was born in Saratoga County, New York. At age nineteen, he preached his first sermon. He pastored several churches in New England and founded the Bethel Bible Institute in Spencer, Massachusetts. (The school later became the Providence Bible Institute when it was relocated to Providence, Rhode Island.) Kenyon served as an evangelist for over twenty years. In 1931, he became a pioneer in Christian radio on the Pacific Coast with his show Kenyon's Church of the Air, where he earned the moniker "The Faith Builder." He also began the New Covenant Baptist Church in Seattle. In addition to his pastoral and radio ministries, Kenyon wrote extensively.

My husband reads it over and over and over!

This book, with such "heart" eloquence, urges and implores the believer to seek...even thirst after divine fellowship with the Father.

E.W. Kenyon helped train Kenneth E. Hagin [according to Hagin], whose ministry influenced Kenneth and Gloria Copeland.

Bet you can read this book just once! I have read and re-read this book several times since I first bought it 10 years ago and have given it to several friends. I have read most of Kenyon's books listed at this site. The author helps you understand your position in Christ in very simple to understand words. His primary focus in this book is our fellowship with God the Father through Jesus using the discipline of prayer. You will gain a whole new understanding of just how powerful prayer can be and how much more we were each meant to attain in life.

I own most of kenyon's books and this blends great with all of his material and is an outstanding addition to his collection. If your looking to purchase a Kenyon book for the first time, I'd go with "New Creation Realities" However, use the "Look inside this book" to see the table of contents and see which book may fit your needs. "From The Cross To The Throne" is a great first time book as well.
Comments on this book: Like all of Kenyons material, its amazingly Holy Spirit Driven and will turbo charge you into God's word. Its well written and very detailed and he completes what he says.
Kenyon and Wigglesworth are outstanding, although there are some other great ones, I don't see anyone quite like these two. God Bless! (...)

This is a must read for any one who would like to live in the secret place of the Most High God. It has opened and revealed me to truths that I had just brushed over. I have become more confident and aware of who I am in God's eyes.

Many of us forsake a true fellowship with God for a "hit or miss" prayer life. God desires for us to be fellow laborers with him, partakers of his divine nature, and this first begins in our relationship with him. This book, with such "heart" eloquence, urges and implores the believer to seek...even thirst after divine fellowship with the Father. With biblical truths it debunks all belief of unworthiness. It will help the believer take his rightful place as a son or daughter of God with the ability to come boldly to God with no sense of inferiority to have prayers heard and answered. If your prayer life has been lackluster, non-existent, or unfruitful, this book is for you.

I have read after Kenyon for several years now, but I just now got through reading In His Presence for the first time. I cannot believe how much better this book is, compared to all his others (I've read 'em all).

Other reviews have very adequately described why this is an excellent book. I am compelled to respond to Mr. P Reynolds inadequate theology. We often refer to the Bible as "the Word of God." (By the way, I see nothing wrong with this, other than the confusion I am attempting to clear up.) Notice that Jesus did not use that terminology. Rather he used the word "scripture." Bible = Scripture. The Bible says that Jesus is the Word (Logos). See John 1. Kenyon is not saying that Jesus is a book.

Also, Mr. P Reynolds seems to not understand the complexity of prayer. There are many types of prayer, not just intersession.

Dear Mr. Reynolds. I recommend reading Kenyon's entire book before writing a review. Then you will understand why it deserves five stars, not one.

Lack of information will create, cause and leave you stranded. The information in the book will enhance you by two hundred percent. I can not read religious rhetoric. The average book of this nature will only take you where you have already been. This is education. Education? I can handle. Anything that will take you out of darkness, I am all for. This is complete information.

E.W. Kenyon was a man who understood, more than most, the significance of what it means to be "in Christ." This identification that we have with Jesus forms the basis for our identity. We are children of God; and thus, have the nature of God. "In His Presence" describes the glorious inheritance of prayer in the life of a believer. Because of our relationship to God in Christ and our possession of the seed of God, we can pray with God (not to God!). Prayer is true fellowship between us and God. And Kenyon gives us confidence in this prayer life by illuminating the significance of Jesus' Name and God's Word. He does a tremendous job at explaining the power behind the Name of Jesus. And for the benefit of the Church, which is the fullness of Him, this Name was given to us to use. As Kenyon describes, this permission to use His Name is just like the power of attorney. We have a legal right to use Jesus' Name and our words are backed by the Word. What we say and do in Jesus' Name is just as if Jesus were doing it and saying it Himself. The power behind Jesus is given to us in His Name to use to advance His kingdom. The use of His name gives us assurance in prayer. Likewise, we have God's Word as our witness. God's Word is true and the promises of God give us confidence of His will. These two that I found particularly enlightening reveal a new dimension to faith. For Kenyon, faith is more about knowledge and less about feelings and beliefs. In Jesus' Name, by having knowledge of the power behind that Name, we can be confident of God's answer. In God's Word, by having knowledge of His promises, we can be confident of God's answer. Thus, growth in prayer will result from growth in knowing God and knowing His Word. As such, there is an emphasis on intimacy with God.Read more ›
