Editorial Reviews

Jason Swinscoe of The Cinematic Orchestra has long been intrigued by the link between vision and sound. From TCO's re-soundtracking of Man With A Movie Camera, through his ''soundtrack to an imaginary film,'' Ma Fleur, to his band's name itself, Swinscoe has continued to pick away at the issues and emotions found at this intersection. With In Motion #1 he continues this process by inviting some of his favourite musicians and producers to provide soundtracks to or musical re-imaginings of seminal work by great avant garde film-makers.

5.0 out of 5 stars sweeping aural luxuriation September 17, 2012

Format:Audio CD
that's all you can say about their music... relaxing, invigorating and comforting all at once. CO's material is always evolving but stays with this concept through all their pieces. Exceptional.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pack with emotion! September 6, 2012
By Flow, L
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I've been a fan of The Cinematic Orchestra for some time and this piece lures me in to subtle and influential experience of melodic progression. The strings and percussion blend wonderfully, creating vivid and sound (a ply on words) energy. "In Motion" is the ideal title for this piece. There's definitely a transition between all of their work, but collectively, you'll know the distinct sound. Def, many kudos!

5.0 out of 5 stars SPECTACULAR MUSIC September 8, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
It's a real treat to the soul to hear music you've never heard before --- and get totally swept away in its beauty. This is like a mash up of classical, jazz, electronic -- you name it -- and all great! So happy to have found this extraordinary music. Thanks for making it available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chill, Instrumental Perfect for Reading or Studying September 7, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I'm always on the lookout for relaxing instrumental music to play while I read and study. This was a very nice find, especially for the five dollar special for September. It's a nice orchestral album that I've gone through a couple of times now since listening. This has already earned a permanent spot on my "Reading and Studying" playlist.

The genre on Amazon places this is a dance genre, which isn't right at all. It sounds much more like an instrumental, orchestral motion picture score. Listen to a couple samples, and if you are looking for something like this, you should pick it up. I was pleasantly surprised, as I had never heard of Cinematic Orchestra before. Since purchasing this, I went and purchased Motion, which is a nice jazzy instrumental album.
