3.0 out of 5 stars I like what I found... May 20, 2011
By AMB
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have read many books lately in which the heroine is just about perfect with a flaw that is endearing and problems that you know will be solved by the last page because that's the way it has to be. Lucy Lang is not that woman, she's not even close. She's sad, damaged, broken. She has a life that she is not living. Every time she has opened her heart to someone, she gets hurt.

At the beginning of the novel, we find Lucy in a dead end job in spite of having a love of art. She is a loner, a drunk. She doesn't have any friends and a list of regrets an arms length long. She was abandoned by the person she loved the most, her sister. She in alone. Thankfully there are a few people in her life who have not given up on her, two unlikely friends who join her on a life changing journey.

I really enjoyed this novel. I loved following Lucy on her journey. I thought Ms. Fairfield did an excellent job adding realism to this novel. Lucy was the perfect balance of hope and despair. I enjoyed how she grew as a person, finding herself in the love and acceptance of others. I loved the relationships she had with her sister. I loved reading how their relationship evolved.

I think this is definitely worth the read. In my search of Lucy, I really like what I found.

5.0 out of 5 stars In search of Lucy June 8, 2011
Format:Paperback
I knew from the very first page of In Search of Lucy that I would enjoy reading this book immensely and I was right. Each character was beautifully written and I identified with a lot of the things that Lucy went through during the story. The plot line was 100 percent believable and I am not ashamed to admit that I teared up a few times while reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars nicely written story line May 21, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A sister feeling confused and depressed and wants to end her life, the other sister wants to live so calls for help after no ties for years. Thus began a journey for Lucy towards friendship, love, understanding and forgiveness on out of her pain. She runs into the one person that made her life a living hell...
A very enjoyable read, a nice flow and loved the very end that ties up any questions that might have still been in your mind. A few words need to be fixed but otherwise a great read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Rooting for Lucy May 3, 2011
By Laura
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As soon as I started reading this book, I found myself rooting for our heroine. The author does a wonderful job bringing Lucy to life. I could feel her pain and dispair. I found myself not being able to put the book down because I had to see if Lucy would find the peace and happiness she deserved. The author also does a very good job introducing the secondary characters into the story. Sometimes in books, I find myself having to flip back to remind myself "who is this," or "where did we meet this person," but Ms. Fairchild gives each character their individuality and purpose throughout Lucy's journey. This is the author's debut novel, and I am looking forward to reading more from her in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sisters Bond April 28, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
In Search of Lucy is a heartfelt tale of two sisters with a bond that can't be broken no matter how the past has shaped their lives.
Lucy, the older sister, travels down a path that leaves her lonely and broken. Katie, the younger sister, also on a path of her own that is hopeful and loving. The sisters come together as only sisters can and continue their journey together to heal each other. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone, it is a wonderful story written with heart!

5.0 out of 5 stars In Search Of Lucy April 18, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Lucy Lang has a problem she is thirty years old, unhappy with her job, unhappy with her life in general, and has very few friends and no special someone. She leads a rather lonely unfulfilling existence that came to be as a result of an absentee mother, a memory of a father figure and a distant sister. Lucy also has another problem she is estranged from herself. Lucy doesn't really know who she is as a person. The internal strife that Lucy has going on in her life is not unusual; there are many of us that are unhappy with our current station in life and this makes Lucy an easily relatable character. The story makes the statement that unless you know yourself, you will never be happy with your life and you will not know what makes you happy or how to be happy. What really matters it is not the way that we go about finding ourselves but that we do find ourselves eventually so that we may lead a rich and fulfilling life; In Search of Lucy exemplifies this.

This book takes you on Lucy's emotional ride. The reader is made privy to Lucy Lang's life and what a life it turns out to be. The story is focused on how Lucy eventually finds herself by way of a life saving gesture for her sister. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I found the characters to be realistic and intriguing. The conversation between characters was natural and insightful. The author created likeable characters that make the reader interested in what happens to them next. Ms. Fairchild's use of descriptive language works well, as I read the vividness of each scene stood out. I found myself really wanting to know what would happen to Lucy by the end of the story; which road would she take to find herself or would she ever find herself, would Lucy ever be happy and fulfilled?

Interesting story, bit hard to swallow sisters absence, knows mum, no communication, keeping Lucy out of the loop. Otherwise good.

More About the Author

I've been creating stories my whole life, but only for me, in my own head. Then one day I sat down and started to write a book. I completed my first novel, In Search of Lucy, in February of 2011. Seven months later, AmazonEncore contacted me about representing my book. It's currently in the top 10 for Kindle Drama.

My second full-length novel, Vigil Annie, was released on Amazon in December of 2012! One reviewer called this thriller "suspenseful, well-crafted, and fast paced."

I recently completed my first romantic comedy, The Tech Guy, now available on Amazon.

My other works include a mystery series (A Hint of Murder) and a short, sweet romance (Special Delivery).

I was born and raised in Southern California and hold a bachelor's degree in journalism and a multiple subject teaching credential. I'm a wife and mother of two teenagers.

I keep being drawn into buying these books because they're bargains and then finding that the books are totally crappy - and I am embarrassed to have them on my kindle. I should wait and buy books I'd really like even if they cost more! Quality vs quantity!
