Even though In Search of the Proverbs 31 Mans' main focus is to understand and emphasize the male role in life, the author explores the perspective of both female and male points of view for a well rounded look at our different callings. Biblical characters are researched and treated as real people to more explicitly explain the gender roles. After reading this book you will know where you stand in line with God, man or woman.

This book is one of the best relationship books ever written! Everybody should get at least one chance to read it. It can only be beneficial to the soul. It is very well written, to keep the readers attention. The author knows her bible very well and has done her research.

So much has been shared about the Proverbs 31 woman. This "superwoman" has intimidated many women through the years. Often readers forget the Proverbs 31 woman had a very supportive husband. In verse 28 it says, "Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise (The Message; emphasis mine)."

In her latest book, In Search of the Proverbs 31 Man, Michelle McKinney Hammond goes through a list of characteristics a Proverbs 31 man should possess. Unlike some of her other relationship books, this one was not written with just one particular group in mind. Men and women whether married or single will benefit from the principles addressed. Some principles seem unattainable, but Michelle emphasizes God strengthens people through the Holy Spirit to fulfill their current or future roles as Proverbs 31 mates. Thought-provoking reflections and further study ideas are provided at the end of each chapter for each gender and couples.

This was a well laid out and thoughtful book. The book is definitely not just for men or single women in search of a mate. For those who have been married for a while the principles presented will serve as a reminder "nothing is impossible" with God.

If you have read the previous works of Ms. Hammond, have a true relationship with God, know something about yourself and what you desire in a godly mate, then this book will assist you in clarifying what you need. It will also bring clarity to your role in the relationship whether you're male or female. With discernment you are able to identify which information applies to you, even if you are without your mate. This is an excellent book for single males, females and a definite must for godly couples. God has a purpose for the marriage relationship. Here Ms. Hammond helps us to begin to grasp His concept.

If you want to prepare yourself for the godly man the Lord will send you (or has sent you) read this book. To be a single woman Michelle has an outstanding view of relationships from a woman of God view. Well worth reading.

I wish I had known then what I know now.....

This book is truly off the hook and has helped me severely in becoming the apple of God's eye, not to mention hindering my sabotagemental attempts in jacking my chances of an everlasting and anointed love affair.

Hammond lays the cards out on the table and they are stacked in favor of any Christian man or woman in search of their P31 counterparts. The author spells out in detail what a man, whether he eats meat or quiche, is like in living color.

At first I thought that I could not measure up to this supergodly guy, but as I read on, I had realized that I possessed the requirements all along; a deep love for Jesus, a desire to be loved and to love, and a healthy prayer connection to the Heavens.

This may seem like I am boasting but I am not. This book has simply opened my eyes to the qualities deep within my bosom, of which God has planted... (hint), while re-adjusting my rudder and exposing the tremendous love the Lord has for me AND for YOU!!

You'd think this would be a book that would try to rattle the cages of men and say "shape up or ship out gentleman!!" NO, she doesn't. She is wonderfully fair and constantly reminds women that men are human as well. On the other hand she clearly states that men must have a purpose here on earth before they can meet the chosen vessel God has planned for them.

A must read for ALL...

Our society is starving for sound instruction about the unique, God-ordained roles of men and women. Michelle McKinney Hammond cuts throught the political correctness that confuses so many people these days, and delivers some straightforward advice, yet manages to do it without getting overbearing or losing her sense of humor.

I found every chapter helpful, and in some places, I felt like the book was written especially for me. I loaned it to my girlfriend, and she found it helpful too, so it's got recommendation from both sides of the gender gap, and that's saying something! This book has helped me solve the eternal mystery of what women really want and need; and challenged me to work on my character, in order to be the kind of man fitting for a Proverbs 31 woman. It also challenges women to keep their standards high, and, no doubt, helps them understand the mysterious man a little better.

The main shortcoming of this book is that it doesn't get very deep (maybe because MMH wrote for such a wide audience) The book contains lots of lessons, but not many details. Hammond combs familiar Bible stories to demonstrate her points, but it would have helped to read some fresh examples from our own day and age. On the other hand, the reader should come up with some real-life applications by contemplating the "reflection and discussion" questions at the end of each chapter.

All in all, it is a helpful read that should do some good for both halves of every couple, provided they're open to doing relationships God's way.

In Search of the Proverbs 31 Man is a wonderful book to have in your library. It contains a wealth of wisdom that can be applied to your life whether you're single or married. Words of wisdom such as: a man should know his purpose before he marries, there are pitfalls to striving to be/become an independent woman, and the powerful influence women have to bring about positive growth in the lives of men. I've already recommended it to women in my Virtuous Woman/Proverbs 31 Woman class and would recommend it to (1) any man struggling to figure out what God intends a good man to be; (2) any woman in her quest to prepare herself for and discover the type of man God wants to place in her life; (3) and any married couple wanting to edify their marriage!!

Michelle McKinney Hammond has done it again. For any man or woman without the understanding of EXACTLY what God expects, this book is a definite winner. A lot of women don't understand the gift that God intended them to be for man, this book explains it. A lot of men don't want to acknowledge God's plan for man, this book explains it in plain English, a man would have no choice but to see and understand God's plan by reading this book.
Keep informing people who have no understanding of God's plan for his people.

After reading 31, I get the feeling that the woman does it all, what good is a man if the woman is controlling the household? She receives verbal praises, that's not enough, why not help???????
