Book Description

Brilliant cryptologist Dr. Sarah Tu races against time to block the most dangerous Internet malware ever created, a botnet called QUALNTO. While Sarah is closed off in her computer lab, her sister, Hanna, is brutally attacked and left in a coma. As Sarah reels with guilt over not being there for her sister, a web of deception closes in, threatening her and everyone she loves.

Hanna’s condition is misleading. In her coma state, she is able to build a psychic bridge with FBI Special Agent Jason McNeil. Her cryptic messages plague Jason to keep Sarah safe.

Tough and street-smart Jason McNeil doesn’t believe in visions or telepathic messages, and he fights the voice inside his head. His first impression of Dr. Sarah Tu is another stiletto wearing ice-dragon on the war path - until he witnesses her façade crumble after seeing her sister’s bloody, tortured body. Jason’s protective instinct kicks in. He falls for Sarah - hard.

When an extremely dangerous arms dealer and cybercriminal discovers that Sarah blocked his botnet, he kidnaps Sarah. Placed in an impossible position, will she destroy the botnet to protect national security or release it to save the man she loves?

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars - "In the Shadow of Greed" by Nancy C. Weeks April 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This book definitely has my favorite kind of storyline in it due to being a computer geek and former information systems technician in the Navy, where I worked for a few years in the Network Security field. Now I am actually pursing a degree in the field now. =)
The minute I read the synopsis of the book I knew I had to read it.
This book not only brings you romantic suspense, but a look into what the biggest threat is to today's world...cyber crime. People tend to forget how dangerous their computer is and what it could do and what people can actually make it do. This book makes people wake up about the concerns on what people out there can do to steal your identity and your information without you even knowing it.
I will not go into detail on the story because I feel I will give too much away. Instead I will go over every thing I liked about this book.

-Nancy C. Weeks definitely did amazing research in the field Dr. Sarah Tu does in the book. In fact, I liked how if anyone who has not worked in the field is able to understand the terms that someone may not know. For example...botnet, zombie computers, viruses, etc.
-I absolutely adored Dr. Sarah Tu and Jason McNeil. They both were definitely met to meet each other and come together. It definitely broke my heart though on how they actually met each other, but in the end, it all came down to the one person who helped link them together, Hanna (Sarah's sister).
-The plot of the story is definitely interesting and will suck you in from the beginning and you will want to know why Sarah is being targeted. You will also want to know the real why Hanna was targeted as well in the beginning of the book.
-The saddest part of the book, made it even the best part of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read April 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Lovers of romantic suspense shouldn't miss this one! Fast paced, compelling, and well-researched with a sympathetic yet strong hero and heroine the book creates a thoroughly believable world, taking you into the depths of cybercrime. The heroine--geeky, driven, passionate--learns to trust her emotions and instincts, a wrenching and exciting journey. The hero is to die for, and we're introduced to his equally lipsmacking male relatives, so I think we'll be hearing more from Ms. Weeks.

I received an advance copy of this book for a fair review. Loved it. But Crimson Romance, one word for you--copyedit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare to Stay Up! April 29, 2013
By K. King
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Nancy C. Weeks succeeds in keeping the suspense high and the tension tight in this book as mathematician Dr. Sarah Tu seeks to use all her skills to identify and stop a dangerous new Internet bot that would compromise national security.

While Sarah is working, someone attacks her beautiful younger sister, Hanna, leaving her seriously injured and in a deep coma. As Sarah feels responsible for Hanna, guilt renders her unable to respond to the attraction that flares between her and handsome FBI Special Agent, Jason McNeil, who thinks he's going nuts when Hanna begins talking to him inside his head.

When bombs explode simultaneously, one near Sarah and one near Jason, the two come together and risk their lives to stop a dangerous international terrorist who seeks to destroy them and everything they love.

Sarah and Jason engaged my interest from the very beginning and kept me rooting for these two strong-willed, tender-hearted people as they worked through their backgrounds fought for their love. Prepare to stay up late with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars In The Shadow of Greed May 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What an amazing book!! This book gripped me from page 1 & I couldn't put it down. The characters have such a believable depth. I feel like I know them & I didn't want this story to end. It was action packed, terrifying at times, and the love story intertwined within was beautiful. The ending completely surprised me!! I could NEVER have imagined this ending! How completely creative!

I hope there are more to come from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swept Me Up from Page One July 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
In the Shadow of Greed was one of those rare books that swept me up from the get-go. Weeks wove an absolutely fantastic tale of greed, intrigue and really steamy love. Dr. Sarah is so awkward and inside of her own head that you cannot help but love her. Jason is the perfect antidote to her buttoned up nature, with his oh-so-hot cop mentality. Of course, the rest of McNeils and the strong bond Jason has with his family make you love him just that much more.

I'm struggling to write this review, not because the book was difficult to review but because I ABSOLUTELY adored it and I just want to gush, but I do not want to give too much away. I'm having a total fan-girl moment over here.

Hannah's character just added this element of complete emotional connection to the book. I cried over some of her scenes. Perhaps that is what makes In the Shadow of Greed so successful. Weeks has an amazing ability to pull emotional responses from her readers. I laughed, I cried, I gasped in suspense.

I am a huge fan of cop dramas, but even on my favorite shows, I can usually figure out the plot. In the Shadow of Greed kept me guessing and the steamy romance between Jason and Sarah kept me distracted in the most delicioius way. This book is a MUST READ for anyone who loves a good romance or a good mystery. It's beautifully written.
