Gnidrolog, however you properly pronounce the bands name (I thought it was German and almost thought these guys were krautrock) is quite the highly unusual experimental rock band that specializes in oddness almost 100% of the time! Well I mean on the regular album- not so much the final four tracks (the bonus tracks).

"Long Live Man Dead" has this weird mixture of odd and pleasant vocals very similar to Gentle Giant and even the sophistication of the lullaby-like flute solo is quite pleasant in a weird, adventurous kind of way. The singing isn't always the greatest as in the lead singer doesn't always find appealing ways to sing his lines ("Long live, love live, love live, love live man DEEEEEEAAAAAD!" for example) but there's a distinct COOLNESS factor to this music that instantly makes me love it regardless of its flaws. This is the kind of song you'd hear in an animated film where things quickly go wrong in a forest and the animals all run loose!

"Peter" is a short, playful flute melody with cello. The vocal melody isn't quite as memorable as it could have been and the flute plays along with it almost note for note. "Snails" begins with an eerie somber flute solo building a mood appropriate for some kind of story about, well, animals! Yes my friends I can't quite shake away the forest imagery, sorry! Imagine stepping outside into a different world upon opening your front door and an elephant up ahead standing around without a care in the world suddenly morphs into a dragon and chases you back to your house! This song is caught between some kind of frightening pink elephant psychedelic trip and Alice In Wonderland. Very creepy indeed, and the wailing guitar playing is a really cool little moment of reminding me these guys *are* an early 70's band after all.
