This review is from: In Sweetest Union Join (Audio CD)
This is a fine 2-CD set of contemporary recordings (from 1999) of the United Sacred Harp Musical Association, in Fyffe, Alabama. These songs come from the "sacred harp" gospel style, also known as "shape note" singing, a very early religious style created for rural congregations that were unable to read standard musical notation. It's interesting stuff, very unusual and unique. Great recording for fans of the style.
