5.0 out of 5 stars Loved EVERY song
This album is completely awesome! I can't remember the last time I liked an entire album - it would be difficult for me to pick just one favorite. I bought the clean version because my three year old is always with me, and he likes a lot of the same music that I do, but I don't want him repeating certain words or phrases.

This album is completely awesome! I can't remember the last time I liked an entire album - it would be difficult for me to pick just one favorite. I bought the clean version because my three year old is always with me, and he likes a lot of the same music that I do, but I don't want him repeating certain words or phrases.

When I first heard "Let It Rock" on the radio, I thought, "I bet this guy listens to the same 80s music that I do." I also enjoyed the way he incorporates electronica and hip-hop, as well. This artist seems to be influenced by a lot of different music genres, and I think that's why his music is so appealing.

There were a couple of ballads that sounded similar to the band Oasis, but out of the slow ones, I thought "Great Escape" was the best. While each song had its own particular flavor, "Welcome to the World" struck me as the next hit song from this album...I could see it becoming as popular as "Let It Rock."

I would recommend this album to anyone who listens to a variety of music genres, and still buys new music (not stuck in a particular decade). If you love the single "Let It Rock," you will like the other songs as well!

Another recent purchase of mine was Timbaland Presents Shock Value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely underrated CD, December 29, 2009

Kevin Rudolf isn't really a well-known singer (except for Let It Rock) but his music is awesome. I saw him live and he was good. Many people automatically hate the CD because it's considered rock, but most of the songs on it are rock so i'm not sure what those people are talking about.

1. In the City - 10/10 one of the best
2. Let It Rock ft. Lil Wayne - 11/10 easily best on the album, very catchy
3. I Song - 9.5/10
4. Livin It Up - 9.5/10
5. N.Y.C. ft. Nas - 9.5/10
6. No Way Out - 9/10
7. Scarred - 9/10
8. Welcome to the World ft. Rick Ross - 10/10 one of the best
9. Coffee and Donuts - 7/10 my least favorite
10. She Can Get It - 10/10 one of my favorites
11. Gimme a Sign - 8/10
12. Great Escape - 8/10 too long
13. Without You (bonus) - 8.5/10

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice change of pace, November 27, 2008
This review is from: In The City [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
Well, if you like "Let it rock" you will like about 3 songs on this Cd including that. This CD has 4 really good songs, IN THE CITY, LET IT ROCK, N.Y.C., WELCOME TO THE WORLD. This CD is half rock/rap/techno, and the other half is slower chill songs. I was hoping for more club bangers like LET IT ROCK but N.Y.C is pretty close. All in all I dont regret buying this CD the hip/hop/techno tracks on here are tight and hopefully more artists bank on that in the future.

If you like "Let It Rock" and "In the City," you'll love the rest of this album as well! The funky basslines and melodies, catchy lyrics, and pure fun of Kevin Rudolf's first CD make it appealing to a wide range of age groups and musical tastes. I've probably listened to this CD a dozen times since I bought it three weeks ago, and I have more than 1,500 albums in my collection waiting to distract me. Whether you're in the mood for some dancin' or just want to rock out in your car, I highly recommend picking up this great album...

5.0 out of 5 stars A great first album!, November 24, 2008

Most listeners are familiar with Kevin Rudolf from the hit "Let it Rock". Fans of "CSI: NY" will have heard "N.Y.C." a few weeks back starting off one episode (lyrics "In the city of dreams, you get caught up in the schemes...") The album is mainly a paean to New York City, where he grew up, even though he calls Miami home these days. Lyrically the songs are biographic, painful, and playful, sometimes in the same song, as in "Gimme a Sign"!

These songs are just a taste of what Kevin has to offer musically: rap, rock, hip-hop, alternative, and funk. He does searing guitar work on most tracks, he has a great singing voice he especially puts to good use on "Let it Rock", "I Song", "Scarred", and "Great Escape". Other standouts are "Livin' it Up", "No Way Out", "Welcome to the World", and "She Can Get It". He slows it down on the dream-like "Great Escape". The production values are right up there with the likes of Timbaland, who he's done guitar work with on some of T's hits for other artists like L'il Kim. Other artists Rudolf has worked with include Justin, Black Eyed Peas, Nelly Furtado, and David Banner.

Bought it for two or three songs and luckily I wasn't expecting much more. When he's on he's on but a lot of the songs seem to be lacking.

Really enjoyed this CD. I was after something not so traditional in the "pop/rock" genre. I think this gave me what I was looking for. Something different. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who typically likes pop/rock but gets bored with the "norm" of everything out there.

This is a good CD. I had only heard "Let It Rock" and "She Can Get It" and decided to buy this CD. I really like it. I have several others I like after hearing the CD. Worth buying. Tracks 1, 3 and 11 are new favorites.

Kevin Rudolph definitely has a niche with this album. It's unique and original and almost every song is worth listening to. There's something for everyone on this album - chill, club, or rowdy. Get this and you won't be disappointed.
