I have to tip my hat to Phil Goodstein for so thoroughly researching the Klan in Denver, and highlighting a topic that hasn't gotten much attention.

The book is interesting in many places, but I think the author overwrites a lot of the book and includes a lot of details that aren't that critical to the telling of the story. Things like the hours the doctor was open, detailed bios on every mayoral candidate in the 1924 election, details on every character's high school and college education and hometown, etc., etc., were more than I needed.

This made me stumble over his telling of the story. I'd much rather have read a tightly edited 250 page story than the 500 page story that included too many details.
