I really do not like this product. You have to mix it first and it still settles to the bottom of the pool and has to brushed around to try and dissovle it. I have tried many ways to get it in with out all the extra work but no such luck. I will go back to WalMart and buy their product atleast it works great. Thought I was getting a better buy with this but I would rather spend more than deal with the hassle of this product.

Keep in mind that this is the only shock treatment that I have bought and in terms of usage I have nothing else to compare this product to.
My pool is approx. 14,000gal and I live in the hot south. During the summer months I must shock my pool in intervals of 7-12 days in order to keep maintenance costs/time down for the other variables involved in good water chemistry. A bag of this stuff serves 10,000gal of water so I usually use two bags at a time, but one could experiment with less. If my water chemistry has gotten to the marginal point, then the two bags will do a very good job on shocking the bacteria present and bringing the water back clear. All in all the product works well. As far as price, well you can look that up for yourself, but you will find that the product is priced in favor of the consumer when lined up against similar products in its category. Well recommended.
Edit: I have since left this product for a more practical strategy called the BBB method. This strategy minimizes the amount of powders that you put in your pool. Of course every time you place in powder then you will spend an equal amount of energy pumping and vacuuming. I keep the bags for emergencies now.

The Swim Shock
Very poor product. Does not dissolve well and kills of quickly with summer heat. Also does not treat as many gallons as premium brands. Do not recommend purchasing this item!!

Makes water cloudy for a day.

You can easily pay $5+ for a 1lb bag at your local neighorhood pool store. Works as good as the expensive local store brand at 1/2 the price. Good deal.
