Editorial Reviews

JuJu is guitar ace Justin Adams -- longtime lead player for Robert Plant - and Juldeh Camara, a virtuoso of the one-stringed ritti, who hails from one of Gambia's respected family dynasties of griot musicians. The duo's spooky musical empathy is evident to anyone who's ever seen them tear the roof off in live performance, and this album is a one-take wonder of recording magic and their brilliant synergy, as they channel African trance rhythms, left-field jazz hooks, and no-holds-barred rock fervor into a dense and compelling web of sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars High octane July 10, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Phenomenal mixture of african / trance / dub / jazz with enormous energy.
Principal musicians on this are a british guitarist, Justin Adams, and Gambian griot Juldeh Camara (a griot is a west african storyteller/poet/wandering musician (thanks Wikipedia!))who plays the riti (a one string fiddle)to get great effect. They are ably assisted by Dave Smith on drums and bassist Billy Fuller. An extraordinary collaboration that can't fail to get your fingers tapping, feet stomping and head shaking. Great stuff. Strongly recommended.
[bought through Bowers&Wilkins society of sound - a nice side effect of buying Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 Active Multimedia Speakers]

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice CD November 17, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I like music from Mali even though I don;t understand the lyrics. I have a few CD's with tracks from that genre. The tracks on this CD sound the same and well arranged. I recommend to those music lovers who are open to the world music genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars JuJu is the source of MoJo September 19, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
What is the contemporary African music scene doing these days? These guys. From forceful and driving to delicate and gentle...it is all there. Oh, and yes, two of Robert Plants new band lineup. Experimental sounds based on traditional rhythms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! August 5, 2013

I purchased this after seeing these guys with Robert Plant. I'm not much of a music critic but I'm enjoying this very much and would like to get more from this duo.
