Just Shoot Me! Season 1, Ep. 6 "In Your Dreams"

So she can have a good photo for her company ID, Jack suggests that Maya arrange a session with Elliott. And while Elliott isn't keen on the idea, Jack orders him to agree. When Maya complains that she's never really taken a good picture, Elliott suggests it's because she's always ... sabotaging herself. So, when he asks her to imagine an erotic encounter with a handsome man, Maya relaxes enough to provide for some good shots. Meanwhile, Finch creates a new employee manual for the magazine. While pleased with the results, Maya decides the photo is too sexy and sends the wrong message. However, later that night, she dreams of being seduced by Elliott in his studio. And when seeing Elliott again jogs her memory of the dream, it doesn't take Finch long to realize what's happened and for Maya to warn him against breathing a word of it to anyone.

1. Back Issues
  March 4, 1997
Following her on-air sabotage of a testy television news anchorwoman, writer Maya Gallo suddenly finds herself out on the street. Unable to find a job and facing eviction from her apartment, she takes the advice of her roommate Wally and goes to see her estranged father, women's magazine editor Jack Gallo, for help. However, in order to see him, she must first run a gauntlet created by Jack's staff at Blush, including his assistant Dennis Finch, former model Nina Van Horn and head photographer Elliot Dimauro. After finally getting in, Maya discovers that Jack is about to become a father again. Reduced to arguing as always, she realizes asking for his help is a bad way to go.

2. The Devil and Maya Gallo
  March 4, 1997
Already nervous about her first day, Maya arrives at the offices of Blush ready to transform the magazine into something she can be proud of. Since neither her dad nor Finch thought to mention it, Maya's new position at the magazine comes as a surprise for Nina and Elliott. Yet, she sees things going her way when Jack overrules the staff and lets her pursue a controversial story on the exploitation of low wage foreign workers. Meanwhile, as Jack is unveiling her new office and presenting her with the job's many perks, Nina, Elliott and Finch plot their survival under the magazine's new leadership. As Maya continues to be overwhelmed with the finer things that her new job provides, Nina marshals Elliott and Finch to confront Jack about hiring his daughter. However, when Elliott sneaks off, Nina is left facing Jack on her own after Finch fails to back up her demand that Maya be fired.

  March 4, 1997
Her father's trip to China gives Maya her first chance to put the entire magazine together herself. And while proud of the changes she's made, when Jack returns, he points out a number of obvious problems that must be addressed before it can be sent to the printer. Then, as Jack is distributing the many gifts he bought for his staff, Maya is surprised to find she's getting a bag of strange candy he bought from a Chinese cab driver. Meanwhile, Nina is stunned to learn that the man she picked up in a nearby bar was really a pickpocket. After everyone samples the unusual candy, strange things begin to happen. Diagnosing their symptoms, Nina concludes that the Lemon Wacky Hello is some kind of hallucinogen.

Although she's planning to celebrate with her wealthy boyfriend Marvin, Nina agrees to attend. And not expecting to be there for long, Maya arranges to meet Wally, who's just been dumped by his latest girlfriend. Meanwhile, when he bets that Elliott couldn't get a date if forced to claim he's a shampoo boy at a discount hair salon, Finch's hopes of making some easy money are dashed when the stranger he chooses for their wager turns out to work at a cut-rate salon, too. Following Jack's brief appearance at the party, Maya is the only one left to help Nina celebrate. After a few drinks make her late for meeting Wally, she reminds Nina that they both have plans and calls to apologize to her despondent roommate. However, upon discovering that Nina's date with Marvin is all a ruse, Maya invites her home to watch an old movie.

Meanwhile, Nina considers having plastic surgery to increase her breast size. As Jack is working on an important speech, Finch approaches him with some questions about his job. After Jack does little to ease his fears, Maya accuses her father of being insensitive as she tries to get him to understand Finch's concerns. Then, after an accidental fall lands him in the zoo's gorilla pit, Finch is suddenly a celebrity. Although Jack warns that it won't last, Finch tries to capitalize on his fame with an appearance on Jay Leno's television show.
