I needed a basic, high-quality projector right away, but didn't want to spend too much. I was thinking mostly about the quality of the image and didn't care as much about any extra features. I've used InFocus projectors in the past and found them to be of high quality, so that lead me to this purchase.

Cons:
I had to spend nearly 20 minutes adjusting the color, brightness, and contrast settings to get to the point where it matched the standard I required for displaying medical images. However, I'm happy with the final result and the color appearance of images is quite good and the image is sharp across the entire display with no evidence of optical distortion. The default color settings of the projector seem way off from where I would expect them to be. In particular, pastel colors are weak and poorly reproduced until you tweak the system and then they look fine.

The picture in the ad showed a carrying case, but there was none in the box. It would not keep me from ordering the projector, but the picture is deceiving.

It would be nice to get a lens cap if there is no case to store the projector, but there was also no cap. Again, I would still buy the projector.

The fan does not continue running after the lamp is turned off. This is probably because this is a low end projector.

There is no handle for carrying it.

Pros:
Inexpensive.

Has an excellent image after some color contrast adjustments.

Lots of lumens... images look very good even in large, bright rooms.

Projector does not weigh you down when carrying it.

Fans are acceptably quiet.

Summary: I was at first thinking of returning it because of the funky colors, but I'm now totally happy with it after the adjustments.

This Infocus Projector is a simple, multiple use screening tool. Many projectors are used in office meetings by connecting them to a computer and projecting presentations on a screen, but you can hook this projector up to your DVD player and project movies onto a wall (outdoor summer BBQ, anyone?). As an artist, I connect my computer to the projector to project my art work on a canvas that I've hung on the wall. I can then outline my art onto the canvas to ready it for painting. This way I can draw a small drawing and increase it's size to whatever size canvas I choose. It's a lot easier than tracing paper or using the grid method.

What's great about this projector: The image. It's extremely clear and strong. I've used some projectors that need absolute blackness in order to project an image that can be seen. However, this will project a strong image even with the lights on. I tested it during the day and had no problem getting an image I could read with the light on. Of course, turn the lights off and the image pops on the wall. No color adjustments were necessary. They were as vivid and true as the image on my computer screen.

What's missing: The lens cap for one. The description says that a lens cap is included; however, it is not. If the description provides for a lens cap then one should be shipped to the customer for free if it is not included in the box. However, a lens cap is really not necessary since the lens is set back and probably won't get damaged. Purchasing a case to house it in when not in use should be all the protection it needs. It loses one-half star for deceptive advertising.

It also does not have HDMI connections. Any electronic device made today should have HDMI, especially one designed to project movies.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
It's remarkable how much the quality of projectors has improved in the last few years. We decided to watch Scrooged to get us in the festive spirit by projecting the image onto a 40-foot white wall and plugging into a home theater surround sound and it was literally like being in a theater (while enjoying free parking and being able to pause for the bathroom).

This unit is very easy to set up - just plug in the included VGA cable and you're ready to go. The instructions are brief and obvious and there's an online support site. The only issue I had was that Windows 7 downgraded the resolution when I plugged it in to 800x600 but actually it's capable of running at 1920 pixels, which improves the projected quality of movies very noticeably. It takes a minute to change the resolution in Windows, so not a big deal.

Overall, I couldn't be happier. It would be nice if it had an HDMI port and a lens cover but at this price it's a great option for home office use and living room theater experiments.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Summary: This is an excellent projector for basic needs. It projects well even in lit rooms, is easy to set up, and takes up little space. Not the best in terms of color matching, but just fine for standard business presentations.

I'm very pleased with this projector. I'm using it in the office for run-of-the-mill PowerPoint presentations, and it works very well for those. No more having to have people huddle over a screen - everyone can see the images at the same time!

Setup is straightforward, as is hooking it up to a PC (a Windows 7 laptop). The projector is compact and lightweight, which is good, but I would be concerned about traveling with this. It does not seem rugged enough to withstand much abuse. I'll be using it in the office 95% of the time, and only taking it to a client site once in a blue moon (and only local clients at that), so it should be fine. If you're a regular traveler at the least you'll want to get a very good case.

The picture quality was pretty good. Images are very bright and easy to see even in a lit room, despite the fact that I'm projecting it just on the wall, rather than on an actual screen. Quiet when running, and it has an "eco" mode that uses less electricity (and supposedly also extends the lamp life).

My only quibble is that the colors are a bit off. Not way off, but enough to be noticeable on images such as logos where I had a point of comparison. A bit of fiddling made it better, but it still was not perfect.

This is not a significant issue for my needs since I'm only projecting PPT charts and graphs where spot-on color matching is irrelevant. But, if you have more precise color rendering needs, this may be too basic of a projector for you.

Excellent choice if you need a basic projector for the office that works well, is easy to use, and won't break the bank. Highly recommend.
