Great quality projector - minor caveat with limited zoom,

This review is from: InFocus IN1503 Mobile Short-Throw Widescreen DLP Projectors, 4 lbs, WXGA, 3000 Lumens (Office Product)
The projector provides a fantastic looking image, does a great job auto-correcting keystone and is super convenient with the USB connection. You also can't beat the wider format for displaying from newer wide screen laptops.
For small rooms it's great because it can give you a 6 foot wide image from only a few feet away - BUT the negative tradeoff to that is that in larger spaces you still have to keep the projector very close to the wall or the image gets way too big. The unit would have been much more flexible if they had given it a broader zoom capability so that the unit could be placed where convenient and the size adjusted with the zoom. As is the zoom makes about a 20% change in size, which is a much smaller range than what I had with my prior Epson product. All in all, I would probably buy this unit again, but not before I looked around to see if there was a comparably priced unit with a much wider zoom range.

This projector works well. However, my last InFocus projector was only 1100 lumens and the 1503 is spec'ed at 3000 but it dosen't seem to be any brighter which is disapointing. Otherwise, it is a well functioning projector.

Stuck pixels - 2nd trip to warranty repair around the corner,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: InFocus IN1503 Mobile Short-Throw Widescreen DLP Projectors, 4 lbs, WXGA, 3000 Lumens (Office Product)
When I first received and hooked up this product, I was very pleased. The screen is very bright, crisp, and large. However, after about 2-3 months of use, I began seeing stuck pixels on the screen. There were little dead spots that would appear from the projection. Eventually, this ballooned to about 19-20 dead spots before I sent it in for repair. When doing the warranty repair, they replaced a very key component to the projector. From what I could gather, it was more or less the heart of the projector. I received my projector back and there were not any dead spots, no big deal. Well, it has been another 3-4 months since then, and now I have about 6-7 dead spots again on the screen. It started last week, and I'm sure it will continue to progress. Last time, it took about 2-3 weeks to get to 20 dead spots.Needless to say, I would absolutely NOT recommend this product as it takes 2-3+ weeks for warranty repair. Also, I will never buy another InFocus projector again. This is my 3rd InFocus projector to purchase over the last 7 years, and this is the last straw. I am ready to shop around and hope to find something of better quality.
