You MUST keep the lamp filters clean. The first one, (factory install) lasted only 750 hours. I suspect it was because of the dust build up and over heating, (never did). When I replaced the lamp, the dust filters were clogged and probably contributed to the short life of the lamp.
Also note, when you power down the projector, (using the remote) the cooling fan continues to run. To have it completley shut down you have to manually turn orr the power switch on the projector.

A previous review warned not to use this if bulb burst. This is not correct. I waited to install this second bulb before writing this (this is the second one to burst due to the over 3000 hours used). I removed the old burst bulb and saw that the damage was contained within the bulb housing. Just to insure the best image, I carefully cleaned the color wheel with a damp qtip and rotated it to get it clean. The new bulb works good as new. My x1 projector image has never looked better. If you have any doubts it seems that the bulb can be returned as per amazon's return policy. By the way, I got my bulb from Amazon in 3 days with free shipping.

this is a sub-thousand projector. bottom line i have had one for four years and burned 2000 hours on it. Are there better projectors -- yes, but for the money, this one gets 5 stars. you need to clean the filter every 300 hours, this takes 4 minutes. just take the bulb out and get the dust off of the screen. this is very important because bulb life is depenent on keeping it cool. i have been very impressed with this unit and with the picture quality. if you look at the pic for the unit you can see the screen on the side. its like a lint collector on a clothes dryer. just open it up every 300 hours (4 months) and clean scrape off the lint. im going to do mine right now.

Arrived within a week of placing order, which is not too bad. I had made a mistake in address, which the the call centre person allowed me to change very helpfully.

I purchased it as a replacement as the last lamp was at end of life. Nice and bright. A bit of difficulty getting it in and working properly, due to a loose electrical connection on the lamp plug (the part that came with the lamp.) The lamp window was cracked when it arrived, but that doesn't affect the image quality.

The bulb in my InFocus x1 projector exploded in dramatic fashion the other day and I have never before attempted to replace it. I came to Amazon hoping to find some reviews and make sure I was doing the right thing in trying to replace the bulb myself. I nearly got scared away after reading one review that said it was a waste to replace the bulb if the original one exploded. It appears as though that must have just been an isolated case for the particular unfortunate review writer. In my case, when I removed the broken bulb, i found that there was no breakage or dust outside of the bulb housing unit and after reading other reviews that had positive experiences I decided to take the plunge.

The bulb arrived a much shorter time frame than I had originally anticipated, which was a very pleasant surprise. Removing and replacing the bulb was an absolute breeze, and the new bulb is working like a charm - in fact, I have Avatar playing in bright vivid colors as I type this. :)

Am very pleased with the timeliness, ease of installation and quality of this bulb and would recommend it without hesitation.

I bought this replacement lamp after having to return one I bought from a site that was selling it for almost half the price. That one had incorrect wiring on the connector so would not be testable without rewiring it, and probably voiding any warranty. I dont know if that one would have worked anyways.
This lamp bulb was correctly wired and worked properly out of the box. Make sure to install it as soon as you receive it as the warranty is only 30 days I believe, whether you use it or not.

Do not buy this if your bulb has burst. There will be powder all over the mirrors and lenses inside the projector (mine was an X1). Unless you clean out the projector the image will be ruined. There is one lens made of soft plastic & it will surely be scratched by the time you get all the powder off it. InFocus will not sell any internal parts and the minnimum repair fee is $250. So you will have to pay another $250+shipping to have them clean out the projector in addition to the cost of the bulb. If your bulb has burst you may be better off buying a used projector that works still.

I asked for a 4.000 hour lamp, but I think they don't produce any more. Very easy to install, but it's expensive

This product is necessary for the use of your projector. Obviously! =) Unfortunately it is VERY $$$$$$, and the life of the lamp does not last a long time. When using projectors, the lamp needs to be cooled for a bit before completely shutting down, otherwise the life of the lamp diminishes. This was the case with the lamp that came with the projector that I purchased. It would be a good investment to purchase a computer UPS when using a projector to make sure that the lamp gets "clean" and consistent power as well as providing power in situations where you have a sudden blackout. This will give you some time to do a proper shutdown of the projector and also provide power for at least a minute or so to cool down the lamp!
