Odds are that your old disposer has a Quick Lock® sink mount. This makesreplacement as simple as removing the old disposer with a twist and installingthe new one.

Instead of throwing this food waste away, grinding it with the InSinkErator® Badger® sends it to your local municipal wastewater treatment plant, where it can be recycled to produce methane, a renewable source of power for the plant. Additionally, wastewater treatment plants can process food waste into biosolids to be used as fertilizer (check the plant in your area).
Food waste disposers average less than 50 cents a year in electricity to operate and account for less than one percent of a household's total water consumption. In fact, the InSinkErator® Badger® features an average water usage of one gallon per person per day and an average electrical usage of three to four kilowatt hours per year, making it among the least expensive installed kitchen appliances.

No better than the Badger 1/3 HP!,
By
This review is from: InSinkErator Badger 5XP 3/4 HP Household Food Waste Disposer (Tools & Home Improvement)
Last year I wrote a good review for my 12 year old Badger 1 unit that I was retiring after 12 years of faithful service. I decided to replace the old unit with another Badger and chose this 5XP model. I had such good luck with with the Badger 1 that I chose to stay with the Badger line, but just upgrade to the more powerful unit. Installation was a breeze as the units were the same size.
I've now had this unit for about one year and unfortunately it does not perform any better than the old unit, in fact it even makes more noise! I still cannot grind very much in it and it appears to be no more powerful than the old unit. I was expecting a more powerful unit that could perhaps handle a little more bulk than the Badger 1. What I got was basically the same unit as the Badger 1, just a little louder now.

Do not purchase a disposer with a galvanized steel blade mechanism. 6 months old and it is completely rusted out! Garbage!

I have a badger 5 and it developed a crack. I did some research and found lots of people with this problem. Stay away from this product
