I gave the product five stars because I'm sure it does exactly what it is meant to do.

However, you might not need this. I bought it knowing that my dishwasher hose is 5/8" and the InSinkErator 74029 Essential Evolution Household Food Waste Disposer, Gray has a larger intake. The plumber who installed the faucet, sink, and disposal was aware I had this kit but instead he cut an existing piece of rubber tubing and used it to bridge the difference in size. He probably thought I could take this back to the local hardware store and get my money back.

That solution has proven water tight, so if you are not picky about the visual appearance you can probably get by with a similar approach.

This works great with any InSinkErator disposal. If you replace the garbage disposal and find you can use your old connector, it's returnable to Home Dep. If you want everything new, buy this and don't forget to buy the InSinkErator power cord for your new garbage disposal. The unit does not come with EITHER of these items...

You'll need a hacksaw (to trim off the excess part of the connector) and channel lock pliers (to squeeze the pictured clamps). Once I got the clamp on the connector, which was tricky, the connector is solid.

Just an FYI if you are looking to purchase this item: most dishwashers made in the past few years will fit directly onto most InSinkErator disposals. I have a ~ 1 year old Frigidaire that connected securely without the need of this kit. If you are replacing a disposer, you can almost certainly re-use the existing dishwasher connector. Having said all of this, if you are doing a new install with a dishwasher, and the dishwasher has a smaller drain hose, this is the perfect solution and well worth the price.

This connector unites the various hose sizes used by dishwashers, garbage disposals, and the air-gap valve that may be used or required. It is a pliable material making it easy to "mate" your hose connections. If you want an easy way to connect different sized hoses, this is it. Not much more to say about this item except it serves the purpose intended.

Insinkerator is the top of the line in residential sink waste disposal. This hose kit is made from high quality materials with a fit and finish which shows their dedication to providing the best possible product.

We are doing a kitchen remodel and this part was not necessary as the dishwasher came equipped for fastening onto the InSinkErator. Going to return it.

Was described just what we needed to fix the dishwasher. Price was affordable and was shipped to us fast.

This is certainly very quality material and great to use with an insinkerator. However, what i found is that we already had the necessary pieces as we were replacing an existing unit. This is higher quality though.

So if you have an existing system, you may want to choose to save your dollars on this one---unless you just really want the higher quality material.

Delivered as promised prior to the plumbers visit! Great value, without it, connection not possible.
