5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent addition to kitchen
So far so good. Amazing how this thing works. Unit is quite and can fill a medium pot to 150 degrees without stopping, trust me I measured temperature. Unit is great package it comes with tank and installation is somewhat easy. Hoses just slide on and click together. Just remember that you will need to "Y"or"T" your supply line, as these parts are not supplied. A great...

3.0 out of 5 stars Likely One of the Better Units on the Market
We've had this installed now for about 9 months and it's pretty good except:

We've had this installed now for about 9 months and it's pretty good except:

1. I don't like the short spout and wish it were a little taller.
2. The water flow is very slow.
3. The lever for the cold water is spring-operated and you have to hold it in the on position to maintain the water flow (I thought the description said the cold water handle stays on).
4. The hot water side of this tap has the tendency to heat up the cold water side by virtue of the tank being hot enough to heat the cold water tank/filter under the sink.
5. With the extra cost of continuously heating the under-sink tank, I'm not sure if it would just be cheaper to heat your water in the microwave.

If I knew when I bought this what I know now, I think I would have skipped it. That being said, for someone who really likes the convenience of always having hot water instantly, it fits the bill. We shut it off during the summer here in Phoenix because of the extra cost of heating this while trying to cool the house with air conditioning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Its new, I'm cautiously optimistic, and I took some precautions, October 31, 2010

Well, if you read the reviews you see that these instant hot water tanks aren't perfect. I've had mine installed for about a month and I am fairly happy. The spigot isn't very tall and so if you want to fill a teapot, the sink should be free of dishes!
Even though the instant fittings supplied seemed pretty good, I still was leery of instant fittings under the sink and so I used compression fittings. No leaks and I know I am not relying on Buna O-rings! (This probably voids the warranty but all things taken in to account, I sleep better at night with this change.)
It seems that for this device, after reading all of the reviews, it is not a question of if the unit will fail, but when. To that end I found a Rubbermaid Roughneck container lid that fit the bottom of the sink cabinet perfectly. Any leaking water will collect in the lid. I also picked up a little $14 water alarm from Home Depot and mounted it in the lid. If I ever have a leak, I should get ample warning.

I have to say that I wish Emerson/Insinkerator would get the message that folks get nervous when installing things that have the potential to cause property damage, even if installed by pros. They need to offer a lifetime warranty on the tank, which I would hope would cause them to figure this out and make a better product. Perhaps a filter cartridge with SiliPhos (anti-scale) would help?
The product also has insufficient insulation. On the flip side, it is now warm enough under my sink so that the hand pump soap containers I have stored under the sink do not thicken up in the cold of winter. I have two built in soap dispensers on the sink (hand and dish soaps) with hoses that run down to the store-bought bulk containers of hand and dish soap.

Perhaps an ancillary effect of the heat loss is that the cold water part of the HC-View seems less cold and more lukewarm.

Interestingly I see that Insinkerater now offers a refridgeration unit for really cold water. For me this kind of addition (the refridgeration unit) really causes me to balk as Emerson/Insinkerator is now asking me to add yet another unit under the sink.

This sounds like I am unhappy with the product, but I am not. From a usability standpoint I really like the instant hot water. I'm not very thrilled with the implementation from a technological standpoint.

All of this was driven by the fact that for the last eleven years we were getting bottled water delivery and we want to do away with this. My bottled water cooler has lasted forever with never a failure and dispenses 180F plus hot water and 40f cold water (ok, I never measured the cold water, but it feels darn cold). I'm tired of paying $500/year in bottled water delivery and I am less than certain it keeps my family from being exposed to glitches in the municipal supply or BPA from the bottles. I'm a little more confident (perhaps I have the wrong impression here) that my AquaPure water system with its carbon and submicron filtering does a better job.

This is the second in-sink erator hot/cold dispenser/faucet I've owned. I think this one is aesthetically very nice and reasonably straightforward to install. I use it with a 2-stage filtration system and a hot water heater.

I'd say the cosmetics and convenience are great. I have two dislikes though. (1) First this is really expensive. (2) Second the cold water doesn't stay on. There's a spring and no available position for locking it on, e.g., to fill a pitcher of cold water. This is fairly inconvenient, and my previous ISE hold-cold faucet had this. Also, this faucet doesn't extend very far into the sink which can make it a little inconvenient to fill certain shape containers.

I would buy this again if I couldn't find a better alternative, because I love having a hot/cold filtered water dispenser on the sink. But I would look carefully first for some other alternative that was either more reasonably priced, or could lock the cold water on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Customer Service, May 11, 2012
This review is from: InSinkErator HC-ViewSN-SS Involve View Hot and Cold Water Dispenser, Satin Nickel (Tools & Home Improvement)
I had my InSinkErator HC-View water dispenser installed when we remodeled our kitchen four years ago. It was kind of a last minute add-on because I was a little worried about drilling a hole into my granite for the dispenser but I am so happy I did. This is probably my favorite feature in our new kitchen and it gets a lot of use between the 7 of us in our household. This morning the hot water was slow to dispense when making my morning tea and then shortly after that I noticed water under my sink. I called InSinkErator and was pleasantly surprised when she told me even though I was past my 3-yr warranty they are sending me out a brand new tank replacement. Now that is good customer service!
