Not ideal for Granite Countertops,
By HOWEVER - This product, as shipped, it only for enamel or stainless steel surround sinks. The threaded base is only 1 inch, meaning that for any solid surface (granite, corrian) countertop, it doesn't extend below the counter surface to attach the retaining ring. For anything an inch or thicker, you must purchase an EXP-10 extension screw base for approx $25. Effects of the EXP-10 extension: The long length of the extention makes it difficult to get over the various nuts and connections attached to the dispensor - you may have to temporarily disconnect some of the compression fittings until you get the extension over them. More importantly, in order to screw the extension onto the existing mounting base, it has a 3/8" tall brass "collar". This collar is about 1/4 inch thicker than the dispensor heater itself, so your countertop hole needs to be a bit larger than the 1 1/2" listed in the instructions. If the existing hole (from a prior soap dispensor in my case) is only 1 1/2", you can't screw the extension onto the base (even from below), and you must grind the hole wider to accomodate the collar width. Easy with an aluminum oxide grind wheel if you have Corrian, but grinding a granite countertop requires a diamond coated wheel - something not generally available to the public. Bottom line - great product, but poorly designed for the upscale (granite countertop) market it targets. Most buyers will need to buy the extra $25 extension (NOT stocked locally at most plumbing supply stores) and allow extra time and resources to make sure the mounting hole is large enough.

great product just a pain to install,
I bought this product as a replacement to my existing insinkerate instant heat and water since my last one was about 10 years old and the heater finally gave out. I think this is an excellent product the heater is quiet and extremely efficient. The instant works great for making tea, instant oatmeal and clean plates with stuck on food. The integrated tap for dispensing filtered water is excellent we are a very active family of four and we are always drinking water, the dispenser is fast enough not to be annoying. Can easily fill a 32oz camel back bottle in less then 30 seconds. The design and fit an finish of this product is the best I have seen in this class and for the price this is the best deal out there. My only criticism is the install manuals is really not the best, if you are not comfortable with doing minor plumbing work then find a friend that is...this was not at all easy to install. Especially if you plan on adding a water filter - which really if you get this model you really should. I wouldn't recommend buying their add on filter that needs to be replaced every few months. Look on Amazon for a NSA rated filter they are a bit more expensive but will last for over 60,000 gallons - 1-2 years. And the bonus is they are top rated filters (laboratory grade) and won't impact the water flow. Back to the installation, the parts supplied where not enough for my install. Their recommend install is to have their Tap and heater all in line (heater installed under the sink under their tap). For me the problem was is I have a insinerator garbage disposal which prevented me from installing they way it was recommend. The holes in my sink all happen to be on the right side, and the garbage disposal is on the right tub of my 2 tub sink (pretty standard setup - if you have a 2 tub sink).Bottom line, if you have a 2 tub sink plan on making a trip to a hardware store (don't waste time going to Homedepot or Lowes they don't stock compatible parts) for extra parts if you have just one big sink you might be able to get away with it.

Hope this review helps others : I searched and searched for a hot/cold H2O dispenser. I wanted one with the kit option (with tank) so I was not spending an enormous amount of money. I bought this ensinkerator and had it professionally installed. It looks great, but it drips and drips when the unit is n the off position.I returned it and got a different brand and spent about $50 more. We will c how the next one turns out...

Works well, but not well designed,

The Wave Transcape works well, producing ample amounts of hot and cold filtered water (easily several cups at a time). Once installed, the "quick connectors" made it very easy to hook up the supply lines to the water tank. However, the previous review was completely correct. The product is not designed for the granite/stone countertop market that its price would suggest. It COULD be installed, however, installation required sanding out the existing hole in our countertop to widen it, and was much more work than it should have been. Our existing hole had perfectly fit the in-sink-erator water dispenser that was being replaced. One other difference betwen dispensers is that the faucet of the previous models could swivel, where the wave transcape faucet is fixed.

We had this unit installed by a plumber a month ago, along with a water filter for drinking. We are thrilled. We do not have it turned up to the maximum heat as per the plumbers instruction as his can cause leaking. Well, three quarters of the way is plenty hot for tea, hot cocoa and ramen. So far, no leaks and very quiet.
