When I had my kitchen remodeled, I had the INSINKERATOR Hot Water Instant Dispenser Model #H-990-2 installed. This week, I noticed water on the kitchen floor, which lead me to look under the sink. The cabinet floor was wet. After cleaning up the water and when the cabinet floor was dry, I unplugged the power to the unit. · I placed newspaper under the sink, to determine from where the leak was coming. This leak is leading on DOWN THE POWER CORD! And there is a frost-like or condensation on the power cord. · Next, I removed the newspaper and I placed a shallow pan under the sink, with the power cord [not plugged in outlet] across the shallow pan - and new drip-leakage is leading on down along the power cord, inside of the pan. It's very little drip, but still a concern. o Several years ago INSINKERATOR was made aware of leak-issue with many models of the Hot Water Instant Dispenser - and there was a voluntary recall. [my model is not included in this recall.] o I have tried calling INSINKERATOR, but I get put on hold each time. o As of yesterday, I have reported this issue to CPSC. I really do miss using my the INSINKERATOR Hot Water Instant Dispenser Model # H-990-2 - but I am afraid of it. I don't know what more to do - than to not use it - and to watch the leak/pan so that it does not overspill. With such little drip, I wonder how long the water-leakage had been under the sink, before it came onto my floor.
