Handles well, but could use improvements,
By
This review is from: InStep Suburban Swivel Wheel Jogging Stroller (Sports)
This stroller handles well on sidewalks in the city, though I wouldn't recommend it as a straight "jogging stroller" because it does not have a safety tether. (The description says it has both a tether and a hand brake. It has neither.) I live in the city where the sidewalks are often broken and uneven. So far this stroller has handled the terrain pretty well. The swivel-wheel makes it very easy to steer. It's not too heavy, but it is a little top heavy. I have noticed it has a tendency to tip easily if I am moving across a grassy hill or something like that.
The seat seems comfortable, and the harness is one of the best I have seen, a five-point number with an easy one-click release. The sunshade, however, doesn't really provide too much coverage for the child, and I wish it had a see-through window on top to provide a view of the rider. The space between the seat and the child's snack tray is kind of tight as well. My toddler fits fine at 18 months, but I am not sure that will be the case in another year. The handlebar is of average height, and it's covered with some kind of porous foam material that I am not particularly fond of. It's probably supposed to absorb moisture or something, but it's not the most comfortable thing in your hands. Parent's tray is okay, fine for keys and a phone, and it holds an small bottle of water tightly. The basket underneath is not particularly roomy, just average. Overall, a fine stroller for the money, just could use a few minor adjustments.

Suburban Safari swivel wheel stroller,
By
This review is from: InStep Suburban Swivel Wheel Jogging Stroller (Sports)
I wanted a jogging/all terrain stroller for my (at the time) 18 month old son, and i did lots of research on the less expensive yet functional strollers. my decision came down to the baby trend expedition (retails for around $130) and this one. the baby trend has large back wheels and it reclines fully, and this stroller has same size wheels and it DOES NOT recline flat. i decided on buying this one because my son does not sleep in stroller anyways, he's too busy exploring the world. the safari was easy to put together, it has lots of great features but nothing over the top. comfortable padding, nice neutral colors, the trigger mechanism workks great when i fold the stroller, the child tray fits all his sippy cups, my parent organizer is roomy enough for keys, cell phone, ipod and a couple other things, plus the bottle holders are not to shallow so far. the swivel wheel locks into place by another trigger-like mechanism so you can jog on a straight surface without having to put extra effort in controlling the wheel. the basket under seat is large enough for a box of diapers (72 huggies, anyone?), your diaper bag and maybe another grocery bag, so its plenty.
PROS: easy to assemble, effortless maneuver, large basket, simple to fold, stays folded, compfortable for child, sturdy steel construction but yet it IS lightweight. (im a petite mom and i carry this to up and down flights of stairs daily!), wheel can be locked, nice parent tray, not too bulky. baby and i have taken several bus trips with this stroller! CONS: no tether ( i dont need one anyways), canopy IS a bit small, i bought the ray shade canopy as well to protect child from the sun, the seat does not recline fully, only about 3/4 of the way (which is plenty for my toddler to rest, he looks very comfortable in it),I HATE the reclining thing they have, its 2 strings, and you pull them towards yourself, and then slide a locking thing up to where you want the back of the seat to be. does give lots of angles to recline, but it's a royal pain. i prefer the click into place backrest recliners regular strollers have, but jogging strollers want to be more sporty, so they feature the annoying drawstring instead. the stroller does not stand on its own when folded (but it stays closed) also the front wheel wobbled after about 1 week of running, but its easy to fix and now it is smooth as butter again. also, the padding/seat is not removeable for wash unless you are willing to deal with screws and nuts and bolts (i was!) overall, great stroller, worth buying. rides smoothly and so far no problems anywhere. our son loves it, so we love it too!

WORTH THE PRICE,
This review is from: InStep Suburban Swivel Wheel Jogging Stroller (Sports)
bought this as a jogging stroller for my four year old. Very solid construction, but the back on the seat is better for reclining the child, rather than sitting up. The support is not really strong for older children. But it rides well and steers easily. Worth the price!

this stroller is wonderful! my husband doesnt complain about kicking the back and its large wheels dont get stuck or slow you down. it folds up easily too. the only problem i see it that the sunshade doesnt really cover the baby all that well... our solution was to lay a baby blanket over the top and that works just fine.

Better than BabyTrend Expedition,
By Theresa (Lancaster, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: InStep Suburban Swivel Wheel Jogging Stroller (Sports)
I orginally purchased the Baby Trend Expedition jogging stroller and was terribly disappointed with it. The front swivel wheel wobbled uncontrollably when it was not in the locked position, making it impossible to push the stroller. Thankfully I had purchased a Buyer Protection plan for it and was able to get a full refund. So my next stroller was the InStep Suburban Swivel jogging stroller. Upon assembly the swivel wheel was so tight that it would not swivel! But a little WD-40 solved the problem and now it works fine. The handle is a little high for me (I'm 5'3"). The tray in front of the seat pulls completely out, but I would prefer it to swing open instead. Other than that I like the stroller. I think it's a good value, especially since I can't afford a more expensive stroller. They sell an infant car seat adapter but my Graco infant seat fits without an adapter. It just snaps onto the stroller tray.

This is one of the cheapest three-wheel strollers on the market, so it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles. It does, however, have wheels big enough to deal with uneven sidewalks, poorly shoveled snow, and tree roots. It has a wonderful turning radius, is easy to steer with one hand, and the seat easily adjusts high enough that my son can see what's going on around him and low enough that he can nap.
Given that i'm a huge fan of this stroller, here are some reasons you should NOT buy it, if they're going to trouble you: 1) This is not a jogging stroller. It wobbles a little at walking speed, and more the faster you go. If you're going to jog, spend more and get something sturdier. (This is GREAT walking stroller. If you're just walking, this won't disappoint.) 1a) Some of the blurbs say this comes with a wrist tether for jogging. It doesn't. 2) The child restraint is annoying. The clip is really stiff, so unstrapping the baby can be a challenge. Also, you can't click in one side and then the other. You have to make your kid hold still long enough to put both shoulder/side straps into the buckle at the same time. The crotch-strap is a little short, i often have to hike it up to latch everything. Also annoying. (None of this is troublesome once assembled.) 3) By 'folds flat' they really mean 'folds into a large, clunky triangle'. Getting this stroller into the trunk of a compact car probably requires gymnastics or divine intervention. It fits just fine in our hatch-back, but takes up most of the cargo space. 4) You can't launder the seat 4a) And when the stroller is folded, the seat is on the outside, so it can get awfully dirty awfully quickly. 5) The handle is narrower than the frame for some reason, so i feel slightly bunched up when pushing it. 6) The sun/rain shade is a total waste of space. I have yet to be in a situation where the fold-out canopy could actually shield my child from the sun. The only use i have found for it so far is covering him when we pass under an overpass which hosts many pigeons, lest the pigeons take up target practice. 7) I'd rather have spent $5 less on this and not gotten the useless, impossible-to-use bug netting. 8) The wheels squeak. A lot. (WD-40 fixes it after a few applications.) 9) It's back-heavy when empty, so don't be surprised if it flips up after you take your kid out if you have a heavy drink in the cup holder. It's absolutely perfectly and completely stable when there's a child in the seat, so don't worry about that. 10) It's nearly impossible to adjust the shoulder straps. There are no directions provided on how to, but it's the same arrangement as many other strollers i've seen. However, forcing the clip through the tiny slot in the plywood backing of the seat will more likely break your fingernails than actually succeed. 11) You have to remove the child tray to put the kid in or take the kid out of the stroller, there's no swing hinge or anything to provide simpler access. If you can deal with those, this stroller is a great deal. I have no regrets about purchasing it, and delight in my ability to walk to the grocery store without having to haul the stroller over every uneven bit of sidewalk. (12-inch wheels are more than twice as good as six-inch wheels.)

Great Stroller for the price,

I am very happy with this stroller. It is an awesome buy. I'm not a runner but do walk a lot of different terrains and it handles well. The swivel wheel does a great job at the mall as well. The stroller was easy to assemble and it folds up without any trouble. However, it does take up a good deal of space.
The seat is spacious for my 26lb son and the tray works well for his toys and drink. I do wish there were bigger drink holders or a key-drop cover for the walker. No major complaints! I could have spent a lot more money if I wanted those issues resolved.

Stoller is nice looking, but that's about it.
We have had this stroller for about 5 months now. It was just OK at first, but it has not held up well. I am not a serious runner, but do jog a little. I'm very disappointed how wobbly the wheel is even when walking. The front wheel wobbles uncontrollably when power walking, so it is impossible to even jog with - locked or unlocked. My husband took it apart a couple of times to try to fix and adjust it but it still didn't work right. The straps are very difficult to adjust, almost as if they're too short. And the bug net doesn't seem to be the right size because it constantly falls off. At this point, I had thought OK, fine, I can just use this to walk around the neighborhood... but now... To top it off, we had to put the seat in the washing machine last week because my son had an accident in in, we let it air dry. Come to find out the seat is made of particle board and it ended up splitting! So now the top part flaps back and provides no head support. I'm now in the market for a new jogger...

Not bad, could be better,

I got this stroller a couple of months ago. At the time, the description said that it would hold up to 75 pounds, which is one of the reasons I got it because my son is 3 1/2 and almost 50 pounds already! Unfortunately, when I received it, the box said it only held up to 50 pounds which was a huge bum out. I decided to put it together anyway and test it out. It is actually a decent stroller for the price. He fits in it well, seems comfortable and it doesn't seem like he's pushing the weight limits. It rides smooth and you can lock the front wheel or let it swivel. It was really easy to put together, I did it in like 10 minutes. All in all I'm pretty pleased with it.

Good Stroller but Simple,
By Denise D. Balais (Coral Springs, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: InStep Suburban Swivel Wheel Jogging Stroller (Sports)
I received this stroller in less than a week with free shipping which was great and it took me less than 10 minutes to assemble it. However, when I put my 9 month old son in it to go for a stroll, I was so disappointed. The front wheel was loose AND wobbled which caused the parent tray and the child tray to make this annoying sound. I called "In Step" customer service and I was advised to take the fender off, tighten the nut under the fender and that should take of these problems. After doing so (it only took about 10 minutes total) I took my son out AGAIN for a walk/jog and it worked perfect!! The stroller feels so light when jogging and it is so comfortable that my son fell asleep even with bumps and turns. The stroller is very basic but for the price, it's a good deal. I do wish it had a see through piece on the canopy so I could see my son at all times but it's not a big deal. The basket underneath the seat is pretty large and both parent/child trays are perfect in size too. Overall, after fixing the tire problem, I really like this stroller.
