I'm amazed at the book. It's not your father's flood story!,

This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
I read the book Inanna of Tiamat and I think about the story at the quiet times. Mostly it's when I read about some of the conditions the author points out in the story as concerns or warnings of global consequences. But the fertility festivals as they are relayed really took me by surprise. I wondered why the ancients set up the rituals of mating. Maybe, I didn't quite beleive it. But then I read a recent issue of National Geographic and there is a tribe of about 2,000 individuals that still practice the fertility festivals and call their god Enkai. That name sure sounds like Enki, the Sumerian god and uncle of Inanna. I recommend the book. It's a pleasure. The illustrations are nice also.

Inanna of Tiamat--a poor rendering,

This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
This book is based on the ideas of Zecharia Sitchin which do make for an interesting read. This story however lacks plot, is very poor on character development and is childishly written. The reader is much better served by the original Sumerian poetry and traditional sci-fi. Don't waste your money on this one.

Excellent Summer Reading, Gods, Goddess - The Beginning,

This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
I took this book along on my vacation and it became one of the highlights of my trip. It's a beautifully written and illustrated story of the origins of life on this planet and the power of emotions - every possible emotion. The story is captivating, intense drama with strong narrative and absolutely filled with images. The characters are richly developed. They become real to the reader. It's a masterpiece of tension. The plot unfolds as the story progresses and the facts behind the drama enlightens us to our own possible motives and frail humanity. Somehow, the power of love is evidently deeper than that of ambition, greed and carelessness - and it's all there in Inanna of Tiamat. I recommend it as a gift to yourself, then pass it on. This book will impress the most demanding reader. I could hear the Goddess Inanna in the words. I came away with the feeling that I want to talk to someone who has read this book. It draws you in to the tale. A classic.
