5.0 out of 5 stars I'm amazed at the book. It's not your father's flood story!
I read the book Inanna of Tiamat and I think about the story at the quiet times. Mostly it's when I read about some of the conditions the author points out in the story as concerns or warnings of global consequences. But the fertility festivals as they are relayed really took me by surprise. I wondered why the ancients set up the rituals of mating. Maybe, I didn't quite...

1.0 out of 5 stars Inanna of Tiamat--a poor rendering
This book is based on the ideas of Zecharia Sitchin which do make for an interesting read. This story however lacks plot, is very poor on character development and is childishly written. The reader is much better served by the original Sumerian poetry and traditional sci-fi. Don't waste your money on this one.

Maybe, I didn't quite beleive it. But then I read a recent issue of National Geographic and there is a tribe of about 2,000 individuals that still practice the fertility festivals and call their god Enkai. That name sure sounds like Enki, the Sumerian god and uncle of Inanna. I recommend the book. It's a pleasure. The illustrations are nice also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Summer Reading, Gods, Goddess - The Beginning, July 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
I took this book along on my vacation and it became one of the highlights of my trip. It's a beautifully written and illustrated story of the origins of life on this planet and the power of emotions - every possible emotion.

The story is captivating, intense drama with strong narrative and absolutely filled with images. The characters are richly developed. They become real to the reader. It's a masterpiece of tension. The plot unfolds as the story progresses and the facts behind the drama enlightens us to our own possible motives and frail humanity. Somehow, the power of love is evidently deeper than that of ambition, greed and carelessness - and it's all there in Inanna of Tiamat.

I recommend it as a gift to yourself, then pass it on. This book will impress the most demanding reader. I could hear the Goddess Inanna in the words.

I came away with the feeling that I want to talk to someone who has read this book. It draws you in to the tale. A classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inanna herself must have written this book; Her best story, March 12, 2000

I feel compelled to review this book by Tikvah Feinstein. The author brings to the pages the drama of the Sumerian Goddess Inanna, along with a cast of characters introduced by the Sitchin books. With one great difference - this is a book written as a novel. Feinstein's character development and insight, tension and her ability to tell the tale within the era's style of language translates to spectacular. It's not slowed down by being loaded with historical truths. A blessing, as Inanna would say. I have read the other books on Inanna and this one by far is the best. It's time to meet the real Goddess.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your book sparked me - I very much enjoyed it!, July 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
Please forgive my procrastination in not writing sooner to tell you how very much I enjoyed your novel "Inanna of Tiamat." Your book sparked me to read Sitchin's books, which I had for quite a some time, but had never read them all. Fact is, I had shied away from them, because they seemed to contradict the Hebrew Scriptures, which I believe are "The Truth." However, in carefully reading Genesis One, there might not be a contradiction afterall. For examples: verse 26: "...Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over..." Perhaps we are being told that "man" had been made in another image, after another likeness; did not have dominion, etc. verse 27: "...male and female created him them." the former creatures had not been created male and female? verse 28: "And God blessed them and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over ..." Are we being told these creatures did not have God's blessing; could not be fruitful; could not reproduce themselves, etc.? verse 31: etal. In this verse God tells us everything He had made was very good. Perhaps this is saying that what someone else had made was the very opposite. I believe the answer to the discrepancy about the flood is that there were two floods. Since there is only One Creator, the Anunnaki could only do what scientists today can do - take what has already been created and by altering it, come up with a variation. Tikvah, I am looking forward to your next novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars The world's first heroine, genetic links to gods, godesses., February 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
I want to thank Tikvah Feinstein for being the first to finally put the bits and pieces of our prehistory together into a story that absorbs, shocks, and astounds us. I didn't want the book to end. The charactes in remote history come alive on the pages. Feinstein lets us see ourselves in the gods and godesses as disclosed in the world's oldest records. The eternal conflicts, the unstable earth we live on, our sensuality, our loves, our ambition - could all stem from our ancient past. It's clearly the best book on the subject I have ever read. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Story Amazing; Reveals Why Women are desired, feared, October 21, 2002
By
Ruth Jeannette (Geneva by the Lake, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
Inanna of Tiamat is a must read; it very well could be the reason author Tikvah Feinstein received an Anthrax letter. I am aware of her other books and efforts in the publishing trade, but this is the one that could upset fanatics, I believe. It is placed in the Middle East in prehistory, introduces a second version of the flood story and creation, and also includes the threat of a killer tribe from the north that worships a war god and demands the covering of womens' bodies and the complete domination of women in their culture. It's absolutely facinating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inanna, a loving Godess, Humanity's origins, A young Earth, May 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
Inanna of Tiamat is a satisfying account of earth's prehistory gathered from all the ancient stories and myths, including the Bible and Sumerian records. Intense and hypnotic, the tale took me from my state of disinterest into a state of spectacular discovery and awe. Inanna lives in the words, she walks through the pages in power and compassion for her people. Inanna must have more than inspired the author, Inanna must have possessed Tikvah Feinstein to bring this work to light. If you liked Susan Ferguson's books about the Godess, you will love Inanna of Tiamat. If your interest was sparked by The 12th Planet, your appetite will be sated by Inanna of Tiamat.

5.0 out of 5 stars enchanting story, exceptional writing, I wanted more, April 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
I have been intereseted in the subject of prehistory for years, but have never found until this book a comprehensive story of the facts behind the myths of creation and or celestial visitors and genetic tampering. I also was enlightened about the origins of the war between the sexes - it's strictly rivalry. This book answers so many questions that I may have to take a few weeks to sort out my thoughts. I just want to say it is a must read book for anyone interested in Chariots of the Gods and 12th Planet. It is more and better than those books that supply the facts. This book sorts out the story and is surprising. It's enjoyable and I will have to read it again, once to get the story, a second time to fully understand the dynamics of the history. I recommend it to anyone interested in the Zachria Sitchin Earth Chronicles series. A great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful, intelligent and wild, I liked Inanna's story, March 1, 2004
By
This review is from: Inanna of Tiamat: A Prehistorical Adventure More True Than Fiction (Paperback)
The book Inanna of Tiamat is already a classic and is being read by those interested in prehistory, myths, romance and drama alike. The title of the swell little book is popping upon the index page of historians and has made its mark as a credible source of prehistoric cultures of middle eastern lore.

I feel privileged to have a signed copy of Inanna of Tiamat.
I give it five stars and if I could would give 10; there's no higher praise for me than to keep a book for my self. This one I won't even let someone borrow, and never will I give it away.

I can only say that the poor review by the science fiction fan had to be due to his lack of intelligence and his crude remarks are incoherant. The book he recommends is really terrible and, it occurs to me that he may be the author desperately trying to drum up business by putting his name and book on better author's review sheets.

I would buy this book to read and to keep. This is one book that is here to stay. Enjoy. To read the truth is far more rewarding than fiction. Inanna combines both.
