Stay away from AWeber if you care for your reputation!, November 3, 2010
This review is from: Inbox Ideas: Email Marketing Tips from AWeber (Kindle Edition)
This is the corporate blog of AWeber. It has fluffy feel-good stories (e.g right now about their Halloween party) and some common-sense marketing tips, but what AWeber rather wants you not to find out about is their terrible security record. Their service got hacked twice within less than a year and millions of email addresses got lost to sleazy foreign spammers!
I'm not allowed to post links here, but search yourself for:
aweber hacked email addresses stolen again
Apart from a note on this blog, which was bumped off screen quickly by a rapid succession of other posts, they didn't even notify list owners and count on the hope that subscribers will not find out whose fault it was that they're getting spammed to death.
But some blame it on you, the list owner, and think you sold their email address when they suddenly get spam. You're putting your business reputation at risk using AWeber. Happend to me and it's not pretty!
For email marketing, this is insufficient, look elsewhere.
