5.0 out of 5 stars a crucial Obsessed album that should be in your collection
this is a very nice compilation of tracks that span the entire career of The Obsessed, starting from the original line-up from back in '83 (the long sought after "Sodden Jackal" e.p.), all the way up to the final '94 era of the band. it mainly consists of demo recordings, alternate takes, live tracks, out of print 7"'s, and unreleased songs. it was recently re-issued with...

3.0 out of 5 stars Traditional doom metal.
The Obsessed are a classic doom metal band with an obvious influence from Black Sabbath. This record includes some of their material that had been previously out of print, as well as some rare b-sides and some live recordings. I like this album, but I don't think it's five star qaulity. In truth, this album makes me want to listen to Black Sabbath...who do this exact same...

In truth, this album makes me want to listen to Black Sabbath...who do this exact same style of music much, much, much better. If you like Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, or Goatsnake, than you'll probably like The Obsessed. I prefer the harder gothic doom and funeral doom metal to the classic rock style of doom that you will find here. Not that this album is bad...just average IMO.
