Most Helpful Customer Reviews

4 of 6 people found the following review helpful By Adam S. Borneman on June 17, 2010
Bonomo's work serves as a crucial contribution to the growing corupus of studies in the Mercersburg theology. Not only does Bonomo demonstrate his keen understanding of the eucharistic theology debates betewen John Nevin and Charles Hodge, but his work also serves well as an account of a pivotal point of divergence in American theology. It is simply not possible to have a comprehensive understanding of American theological development without a working knowledge of the Mercersburg-Princeton debate. Bonomo provides more than enough along these lines. The implications of this work I believe will become increasingly significant as the resurgence of studies in the Mercersburg Theology continues to gain steam. In sum, an indispensible read for any serious student of American theological development.
