Book Description

Humanity's greatest enemies will be revealed!

Book 1 of 4 in the bestselling Wandering Stars series

Since the ages before time was measured, the angelic races have existed. Unseen by our eyes, they move through creation, shaping our world, sustaining our existence, and battling demonic hordes. But the war is changing; the battle lines are expanding into new frontiers and the next epoch is emerging.

Centuries after the first humans were exiled from their home, their descendants have pushed eastward into a prehistoric wilderness. In a land shrouded by mist and superstition, primitive tribes struggle to establish new civilizations, unaware that their world is about to change forever.

Weary from unceasing conflict, Sariel—legendary warrior of the Eternal Realm—crosses into the Temporal in search of the only one who can bring him peace. But he is not the first; others have already begun their inhabitation. As the dominance of their kingdom spreads, threatening to engulf all of humanity, Sariel finds himself standing between his own kind and the one he loves and must embrace the life he abandoned in order to secure her freedom.

In this riveting prequel to the Amazon bestselling Awakened series, Jason Tesar sets in motion a sweeping fantasy epic birthed at the very foundations of mankind, when our prehistoric world collided with supernatural forces, spawning an age of mythological creatures and heroes.

Interview with the Author

Q – What was the inspiration for the Wandering Stars series?

A – I’ve always been fascinated by the subject of angels, fallen angels, Nephilim, and demons. As a religious person, I carried this metaphysical perspective into my study of myths and legends. And to my surprise, I found much common ground between it and the Greek & Roman gods, as well as the heroes and monsters of Norse and Viking mythology. I wondered if one might have caused the other … if the myths were actually true at their core.

As I constructed the fictional universe of The Awakened series from this idea, imagining how the story would play out in our modern existence, I couldn't help but be drawn-in by the backstory as well. And the more I imagined, the surer I became that such an epic beginning required its own series.

Q – What makes this story unique?

A – Like many other fantasy authors, I have enjoyed reading the stories of Tolkien. The richness and depth of his invented cultures and history are an inspiration. While that level of authenticity is also the goal for my own writing, Wandering Stars pushes the conventions of the epic fantasy genre in a completely different direction. By building upon a foundation of comparative mythology and tweaking some of its assumptions, I've created a story that offers a unique and exciting view into our own origins. And the result is not your standard fare of elves and dwarves, swords and sorcery, or knights and dragons. While some of those elements are present, the civilizations are original, and the environment is immersive. What you’ll find is a tale that is both realistic and fantastical. Unique, yet familiar. It is a large-scale, prehistoric clash of civilizations that will challenge what you think you know about our world.

About the Author

The third of four children and an introvert from the start, Jason Tesar grew up as an imaginative "middle child" who enjoyed the make-believe world as much as the real one, possibly more. From adolescence to adulthood, his imagination fed itself on a diet of books, movies, and art, all the while growing and maturing--waiting for its opportunity. Then, during a procession of monotonous, physically laborious day-jobs, his imagination leaped into motion, bringing together characters and locations of a world that would someday come to life on the pages of a book. In late 1998, Jason made his first attempt at writing, managing to complete a whole scene before returning once again to reality. A year and a half later, a spontaneous night-time conversation with his wife encouraged him to take his writing seriously and to keep on dreaming. Over the next seven years, Jason carved time out of the real world to live in an imaginary one of epic fantasy, science-fiction, and military/political conflict. The fruits of this labor would later become the first three books of the bestselling AWAKENED series. Due to the incredible support from readers around the world, Jason has continued his trajectory into make-believe, recently jumping from stable employment in the micro-electronics industry into the mysterious abyss of full-time writing. Living in Colorado with his beautiful wife and two children, Jason now spends the majority of his time fusing the best parts of his favorite genres into stories of internal struggle and triumph, friendship, betrayal, political alliances, and military conflict. His fast-paced stories span ancient and future worlds, weaving together threads of stirring drama and intense action that provoke reader comments such as, "I couldn't put it down," and "I'll read anything he writes."

5.0 out of 5 stars Confused July 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have to admit. I am confused by the negative reviews of this work. I don't know how one could explain the prequel to the Awakened series without the esoteric language and detailed description of the Angelic creatures, their hierarchy and command structure.

I found this book to be fascinating, fun, and fast paced. I related to the characters and was captivated by their interactions and complex relationships.
I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait for book 2. I know the Awakened series came first but I almost wish I would have started with this book, ALMOST. Buy it and enjoy the ride.

I am also fascinated with tesar's self publishing and his commitment to break down the barriers between artist and consumer. I have no idea what this will look like or if it can even really work, nonetheless, I can't wait to experience the revolution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended June 12, 2012

After enjoying the first book the awakened series of The Awakened: Book One I immediately purchased part two and three. I waited impatiently for this prequel and was not disappointed. I have no problem recommending Jason's work to everyone I know that enjoys reading fantasy. I can't wait to found out what happens to Sariel and Sheyir in the next installment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Incarnation July 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I echo the comments of Avid Reader and Kathy Kent. So sorry Jason, as I also thoroughly enjoyed every page of the Awakened Trilogy, but Incarnation was a disappointment. It was a cumbersome read and often times rambling and distant. A humble suggestion: please read the Awakened series again - the style in which you created and carressed the story was captivating and at the end of each book it left the reader yearning for more. I felt like I knew the Awakened characters and wanted to continue reading about them. My intent is NOT to discourage, as you demonstrated you possess a true gift for writing - whatever the storyline. Stay true to yourself and your writing style - you will succeed beyond your expectations. I will still buy the subsequent volumns, I want to know what happens to Sariel and Sheyir. Honest feedback can be a most useful tool. This comment is written with the best of intentions to an author in whom I am very impressed and expect great things in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars The beginning... November 13, 2013
By Justice
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story behind Sariel and the beginning of the prophecy. I found the characters fascinating and completely believable. I find that Jason Tesar's writing is fluid and easy to follow. I enjoyed the development of the angelic language. It's difficult to develop a language and then use it fluidly throughout the story, but Jason does a superb job. I look forward to the next story in this series (that is after books five and six of "The Awakened" series).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fallen Angels February 27, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Jason Tesar has done it again. This is an interesting take on the "Fallen Angel" theory. He weaves a good story line and keeps the reader interested. I'm wondering who turns out to be THE devil, but I guess I'll have to wait for another book in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really liked reading this story November 3, 2012
By Revo71
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was an interesting and fun book to read. I had a hard time putting it down. The descriptions and story line kept my interest and it never really bogged down to a point of boring story telling. It didn't over explain details or characters in the story, so I was always looking forward to the next development in the plot. Good fiction.
