Burned Out Three in Two Months,
By
This review is from: Incase 2-amp Car Charger for iPad/iPhone/iPod - Black (Electronics)
When these work, they're fantastic. Nothing charges an iPhone faster, and there's plenty of juice for your iPad.
However, I've burned through three of these in two months, and not just in one car. These are HIGHLY unreliable, and they shine a very poor light on InCase's otherwise strong products. Each one of the three ended its life by getting very hot, then popping, and then smoking. They're almost too hot to touch when this happens, and they fill your car with the smell of burned electronics. They're absolutely beautifully designed, and very poorly executed. Please, stay away from these until InCase figures out what the problem is here. Look at the reviews also on [...]; they'll tell you the same thing.

First try, blown fuse.... and 12 hours to go on my road trip,
This review is from: Incase 2-amp Car Charger for iPad/iPhone/iPod - Black (Electronics)
Just picked this charger up from the Apple store on my way out of town so that I could use my iPad while on the road. First try and both my front and rear cigarette lighters are blown and unusable by this as well my old iPhone charger. This is ridiculous! Do not buy this product. A quick search on the Internet yielded similar testimonials; just wish I had had time to do my research before.. I will be returning it as soon as i get home.

We purchased this from another site, prior to taking a long driving trip in a rented car. It worked well enough in that car - we used it for perhaps 10 hours or so.
After the trip, however, we tried to use it in our own car - and nothing worked. We thought the outlets in the car (front and back) had gone bad. Did some digging however and found that the fuses for those sockets had burned out. I replaced them, plugged in the iPod charger, and INSTANTLY the fuses were burned out again. Tried it yet another time, same thing. So now we have a useless device. Although the circuits in question have 15 and 20 amp fuses, and this device is rated at 2 amps, apparently there's some sort of surge when it's plugged in, and that's enough to blow the fuses.
