Nearly impossible to get off,
This review is from: Incase CL59152-B Slider Case for iPhone 3G and 3GS, Black
I like the case, definitely worth the money I spent for it as I have dropped it around 10 times (happens to everyone). The thig I like most about it is that there is basically zero added bulk to the phone. So far after about 3 months the case seems to be holding up pretty well. The one bad thing is that this thing is IMPOSSIBLE to get off! I emailed the incase website and they told me that many many people have this problem and to use latex gloves to get a good grip. Didn't help at all by the way. I've only gotten the case off twice and I have to literally dig my finger nails under the case and push/pull as hard as I can which has created minor scratching. Some might consider this a good thing though as it will not pop off when you drop it, but I would like to take the case off at least everyone in a while to clean it out. However I do reccomend the case, I dig it.

Great at first, but a devil in the details...,
This review is from: Incase CL59152-B Slider Case for iPhone 3G and 3GS, Black
I researched iPhone cases fairly heavily before deciding on the incase slider. It was the best of the options that were open to me at the time, all things considered--and initially I was really pleased. It ads little bulk, the build felt solid, it fit the phone like a glove, and it protected my phone from the fate of a cracked screen after the dreaded but likely awkward fall. But my initial satisfaction soon gave way. First, I noticed when I took the case off to clean the phone that it had dinged and scraped the chrome bezel on the front of the phone. Then the case began to become looser and to creak. And then when I removed it again, I noticed that the case was scratching the back of my phone. For a case that is meant to protect, scratches are unnacceptable. Some will say that the scratches are not The case itself but rather bits of grit that get caught between the case and the phone that get dragged accross the back when you slide it off. It makes no difference. All slider cases probably suffer from this design flaw, but it is still a design flaw. Do yourself (and your phone) a favor and get a non slider case. I recommend the Speck Candyshell. I did not buy that case because initially they had only bizarre color combinations, but now they have released a much more modest lineup and I am very satisfied with my new case. But my no matter how good any subsequent cases are that I buy, my phone will always be scratched by the slider.

This will be my second Incase. P.Wilson mentioned the flaking after a few months and I agree. However, it took about 6 months for this to occur with mine. I recently tried another case because of this. I bought the Incipio SYLICRYLIC Case thinking it would be a little better and I was wrong. I will accept the flaking in exchange for the style of the Incase. As far as scratching my phone, there are none worth mentioning. People are complaining about it being difficult to remove the case. Isn't that what you want? Why would you get a slider style case that would easily slide off? Honestly, it's really not that difficult to get off. I think this case adds more style to my phone and that's why I bought another one. I might add, I use my phone constantly so it's constantly being moved around. As many times as I slid this thing across my desk or took it in and out of my pockets, I'm surprised it just now started flaking. For this, I will still give it a 5 star rating.

Well made but I had to downgrade because of the extortionate price.,

It fits nicely, feels good in the hand and protects the phone. It probably costs 40 cents to make and sells new for $34.95 at Best Buy and $29.95 here on Amazon. You may not be able to find a good protector for less but that doesn't make paying a fortune for 1 ounce of fancy plastic feel any better.

doesn't come open easily. is rubber, black, pretty slick and functional. all of these cases these days are way overpriced, but i guess that is just how much they are; this is the best one i've seen to date.

I haven't had this case long, but I tried several and liked this one most for several reasons. Reading other reviews here makes me wonder how I'll feel about the case after I've had it for a while, but for now it's good. I got it because my iphone is getting a little scratched and got a tiny little crack at an edge. I'm not rough with it, but things happen. So I'd been looking for a while and tried a few at Target. Of the ones I tried this was the least bulky but still offers plenty of protection. I put my iphone in one case and could not get it out for several minutes. This one is nice because I can slide it off very easily, but not so easily that it falls off. I take it off every day actually because I'm a clean freak when it comes to my screen, and after a day of funk there's a little crud around the edges which grosses me out. The important thing to me is that the phone still feels the same, sleek and pretty small. And it still slides easily in and out of my pocket, but it's a kind of matte texture so maybe I won't drop it again, which I think is when I cracked it!I will update this review if I notice any of the problems other reviewers have mentioned. I see they offer this case in metallic red and gun metal, I went to Target and they only had black and white, and white was sold out. Target was nice though, because I could try the cases, it's nice they put them all in easy open/close packaging so you can try them out. Smart. UPDATE: I still really like this case, I let a friend try it on her phone and it got stuck on hers. I got it off and cleaned it really well then tried it and it still got stuck, so I really looked at the phones to try to figure it out and noticed that hers seemed a little bigger. She has a black 16 gb and I have a white 16 gb. I measured them with a caliper, same size, then I weighed them on my postal scale and mine was 4.7 oz and hers is 4.8 oz. Same model. Maybe they just vary from phone to phone, maybe the black one are a little bigger. I also noticed that it left marks on her phone like eraser marks where the case has two lines of more grippy softer rubbery plastic to keep the case from sliding, her phone was so tight that it rubbed the rubber and left marks. The marks were removeable easily, it was just rub marks like an eraser would leave. It has never left them on my white phone. All I can tell you is that it fits my white one perfectly and has never gotten stuck.

This case fits good and tight. A nice improvement from my Griffin slider that would easily fall off. I highly recommend you do a Bodyguardz wrap on the entire phone before using a slider case to prevent the bits of grit from scratching the phone when the case is removed. However, if you are just looking to keep the phone working until your 2 year contract is up (and then get the latest and greatest iPhone) then you can skip the extra protection. This case also works well with the docks I have. Nice job, Incase.

These guys sent a product labeled as new and what showed up was clearly a refurbished product, I would try somewhere else unless you want to gamble on paying for a used item at a new price.

Do Not Buy this Case for looks or to protect against scratches,
This review is from: Incase CL59152-B Slider Case for iPhone 3G and 3GS, Black
Great look when it's new, then the matte finish starts to peel off (this started about 3 months in) revealing a shiny surface - - this has happened all over the case at this point so it resembles a reptile that is shedding its skin.Additionally - the case fails to protect the shiny back surface of the phone so now my phone is covered in scratches (one of the main reasons I bought the case was to protect the surface of the phone - so this is a major fail). Due to the case design - it will often come off when removing the phone from a tight pocket. I believe when this occurs - the case, or any dust or grit that has gotten into the case when this occurs will end up leaving long scratches on the back of the phone - this is VERY ANNOYING! Now to the good stuff - I've dropped my phones dozens of times - it still works great - and I think this case has really helped out to protect the phone. Also - the form factor is wonderful - I play tons of iPhone games and this case doesn't get in the way and feels good to grip. If Incase can fix the problems with the flaking matte cover on this case + the problem with the case coming off + scratching up the back of the phone this would have been a winner. Because of the above issues, this case is extremely over-priced and really disappointing. I have had this case for over a year and half on my phone - it's unlikely that I will buy a product from this company ever again.

We ordered two Incase slider cases for our iPhones here at [...] and they work like an absolute charm. The case is sturdy, and has held our phones against a handful of knocks and drops, as well as giving easy access to docks and port such as the iPhone Dock and GPS cradles. Highly recommended. |
