5.0 out of 5 stars Fixed signal problem from last generation!, July 31, 2009

This review is from: Incase EC20009 Power Slider Case for Apple iPhone 3G, Black (Electronics)
I bought this case based on the reviews of battery life and not signal issues. I have to say that I am not experiencing issues with signal degredation at all. This could be because they introduced an updated and revised model of this battery pack. Look at the sku number and it seems the ones ending in 3 are the ones that are having signal degredation issues. I have one ending in 9 and it seems like the signal issues have been fixed (I can't say for sure since I never owned the 3 model ). Battery life is fantastic on it. I can get a whole day of use out of it, plus if you have bigger hands like me, the iPhone tends to be too thin. The thickness actually plays out to be a benefit. Not too big, but also not too small. I picked this thing up for 60 bucks. Considering the incase slider case is 35 dollars by itself, this is a steal (25 bucks extra for an integrated battery). Also unlike the icase slider, the screen protector works well with this because they ended up not bringing the edges of the case all the way in. It just covers the bezel, so there is a huge benefit in itself. I would definitley say give it a try.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised....but with some downsides., October 17, 2009
This review is from: Incase EC20009 Power Slider Case for Apple iPhone 3G, Black (Electronics)
I travel quite a bit and didn't always have time to recharge my iphone. This case will add a second day's worth of battery life to your phone...but with some downsides. The case interferes with the iphone's internal antenna so you're likelier to lose your cell phone signal in areas with a weak signal. The case also adds quite a bit of weight and bulk to the iphone. I don't recommend it if you like to keeping your phone in your pocket. If you insist on keeping the phone in your pocket, even with the case on, the case makes it very difficult to pull the phone out quickly to answer a phone call. I now only use the case once the battery on my iphone is completely discharged.

So I was going to take a long seven hour road trip from Silicon Valley to Southern California and my cigarette lighter in my car had a blown fuse so I wouldn't be able to power too long my new iPhone 3G during my trip... which meant very limited music or podcast use and most importantly limited use of the GPS app for a new place I was going to? Now way! I went to Best Buy to see what alternatives they had and they showed me this product... W-O-W.. freak'n amazing. First of all, it is acts as a second battery for my iPhone and second it also acts as a protective case for it... and third... it is one of the most attractive protective cases I have ever seen for an iPhone. This meant a lot to me because I swore I would never put a protective case on my new gorgeous iPhone, to me it was the equivalent of putting on clothes on a gorgeous woman... what a sin! But it is a handsome protective case and almost every day I use it, especially when I run with my phone listening to music or podcasts. So, my phone lasted the entire length of the my seven hour trip while I listened to music, podcasts and used the GPS feature, it worked exactly as advertised. I highly recommend it. The other cool thing about it, is that you can charge both the case/battery and iPhone at the same time...so if you do it this way, you always have a second phone battery charged and ready to go in case of an emergency.

By the way, I paid $80 for Incase at Best Buy.
