i must say i read plenty of reviews before i purchase an item(call me an informed consumer). . .but, i have never felt stongly about an item--so, i have never written a review. this is a FIRST! i consider myself a halloween freak--love it so much, we plan our matching family costumes at least 6 months in advance--this years theme is pirates of the caribean. (always wanted to be a pirate!) so, i decided this was the costume for me--not too revealing yet looks like the movie (sorta i guess. . .couldn't be elizabeth swan--daughter is gonna be her). costume came yesterday--it's beautiful, excellent quality--best made costume i've ever purchased! and nicely packaged in a hanging zipper bag with separate compartment for boot cover. a note on the boot covers--i thought they would never stay up/on and look cheap, so i bought brown pirate boots but these boot covers look really nice and fit well. all in all costume is well worth the price!

I bought this costume last year, and bought for my size based on the measurements provided by the manufacturer. Which is clearly located on Mars.
I am not in size denial. I don't mind buying large clothes to accomodate the fact that I really love delivery pizza.
I'm begging you, if you really want this costume, buy it at least one size larger than your actual, never disclose not even to your best friends, size.
I had to cut myself out of the top. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to cut the side seam of a garment you are WEARING?
In the end, I had to rip out the seams and insert side panels that tied so I could adjust it. The material is not flexible enough to allow you to be a millimeter larger than the costume.
Just keep that in mind.
And keep the seam ripper handy, matey.

Everything fit just great except for the faux boots, which wouldn't go over my big honking size 9.5 feet.
Other than that, four stars.

This is a stage quality costume with gorgeous accessories. Pants are stretchy, faux-velvet and have elastic just under the knee. The top is a billowy, yellowish gauze fabric. Must be worn off-the-shoulder. The vest fits snug and zips in the back. Boot covers are narrow and tight. You cannot wear these over boots... only shoes that you slip on after the boot covers are pulled onto your lower leg. The scarf on the hat is part of the hat, so it stays in place.

The costume runs small. I wear a size 2-4 and a medium fit me perfectly. So, please order up accordingly. Other than the fit issue, the costume is perfect and well worth the price.

This costume seems to be fairly well-made of decent (not great, but decent) quality fabrics and is complete with hat and boot-tops (which some of the others did not include). I am 5'9 and weigh about 130lbs. I Normally wear a size 6. I ordered a size medium, but wondered if I should've ordered a small. Glad I didn't because the fit turned out to be perfect for me.

I needed a pirate costume for a work function and so couldn't go with any sort of "naughty" pirate wench outfit. I was looking for either a long skirt or pants, and since I am quite short (5') I decided pants might be safer. I loved the look of this costume--it was obviously pirate and stylish but still decent and work-appropriate. I read all of the reviews and was nervous about the price but decided to take a chance as I didn't find anything else I liked as much as this. It arrived in the mail yesterday and I tried it on right away. I was pleased with the quality and feel of each peace. Yes, the vest is vinyl but feels sturdy and doesn't look cheap. I was nervous about the sizing because everything said it sized small. Well, I am glad it didn't come in an x-small because I may have been tempted to order it and may have been disappointed. The Small fit quite well--a little big in the pants but I'm used to that. I will caution anyone on this though: If you get hot easily or your costume event is going to be in a warm area, you may not want to get this outfit or just get a pair of black, cotton leggings to wear instead of the pants. The outfit is quite warm. The gauze shirt doesn't breath too well and of course the vinyl vest doesn't help. The pants are velvet and with the high boots/ boot covers, there's really no breathing in those either. My work event is at a hotel that is typically overly air-conditioned, so I'll be glad for the warmth. If you live in a colder state, this costume would be great for an outdoor event for Halloween. Sorry to ramble, but I really was impressed.

The sizing on this is WAAAAAY off. There is no way this is a large! The vest zips down in the back and it's so small there is no way to zip it closed.

The costume I received was definately Better than Average and worth the money. Definately recommend buying the next size up. I ordered 2 sizes too large (just to be sure) and made very simple, quick stitch modifications to tailor to fit great. I was not disappointed at all, I would buy again from this seller.

This thing is nothing like the picture. The top is some flimsy cheapo material, almost like those paper jackets camel use to give away back in the day. And it is YELLOW not that cream looking color in the picture. The bottoms are just below the knee and look downright ridiculous, the cuffs are cheap and the hat is just idk even know how to describe it it's so terribly smashed and worthless. I returned this and got something much cuter for the 1/5 of the price.

This is a darling well made costume which runs very small! I purchased this in a Large and it fits like a Small. I wear a 10 and should have purchased this in an XL or XXL. Word to the wise.
