4.0 out of 5 stars A True Find!
Good old KPFA radio in the Bay Area played a couple of tracks from this cd and that's all it took. One of the most beautiful falsetto and operatic voices you will ever hear singing contemporary music. Combine the magnificence of his voice with a mostly ambient soundscape created by very capable musicians, and, original compositions penned with a poetic bent that Jeff...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fell one step short of amazing for one reason...
Musically this CD is amazing! The use of tight grooves with sonic soundscapes-like atmospheres. Musically it's one of a kind. These guys really know the importance of how to use space. There is an element throughout this entire CD that doesn't flow well with the music, and that's the vocals. It's not that the vocals are bad or good, it's the phrasing that seems way off...

Musically this CD is amazing! The use of tight grooves with sonic soundscapes-like atmospheres. Musically it's one of a kind. These guys really know the importance of how to use space. There is an element throughout this entire CD that doesn't flow well with the music, and that's the vocals. It's not that the vocals are bad or good, it's the phrasing that seems way off. It's almost like the singer has no sense of timing or time signatures throughout the entire CD. It just doesn't gel well at all with the music. This CD would of been the top of my list if it were instrumental or if they can find a vocal arrangement that fits. It may be a good idea to re-release this as an instrumental.

One of the most beautiful falsetto and operatic voices you will ever hear singing contemporary music. Combine the magnificence of his voice with a mostly ambient soundscape created by very capable musicians, and, original compositions penned with a poetic bent that Jeff Buckley and his Dad would have loved, put it all together and you have one very unusual recording. This guy has stepped out of the mold into soemthing very much unique. I can only hope for more work from him and perhaps a slightly better mix and production from the studio. Bill Laswell plays on one track and unfortunately, it wasn't enough for me. Would love to hear a more collaborative effort from these two. Percy is someone to look out for. Definitely not mainstream.
