5.0 out of 5 stars I love it! January 30, 2011
Color Name:Grey
I use reviews to guide me in my online shopping. I scrutinize pictures, go to the manufacturers website to confirm specs, and look for every bit of information I can get to help me decide if the product will meet my needs, be what I want it to be, and come from a reputable source (especially when shopping on ebay). I also look for the best price.

So there were no reviews on this item before I ordered it... but I have to say that I am glad I did. This cover is not leather - and to me that isn't important. Leather only makes the device heavier to carry and hold. What is important to me is that the Kindle is securely held, and not by the hooks that go directly into the Kindle case.

I have a second generation Kindle (white) and I bought the M-Edge cover with the elastic at all 4 corners and the elastic around the entire case to keep it closed. Loved it. And, yes the microfiber on the inside left cover comes unglued, but at least it has the microfiber to protect the Kindle screen. It had everything else I wanted.

Now that I have the third gen Kindle (black) I wanted something just as secure. Problem is, the third gen Kindle has more rounded corners and the buttons are closer to the corners. The M-Edge cases looked like (and the reviews confirmed in most cases) that the elastic got in the way of operating the buttons. So, I found this cover by Incipio. It is much like the M-Edge design I am used to. Lightweight, elastic to keep the cover closed when not in use, and most importantly it keeps the Kindle securely in place. It uses 4 hard plastic mountings that your Kindle slides into from the top. It fits snugly (perfectly) as I was afraid it might come out from the top... but it would take some intentional force to move the Kindle out of the plastic mountings.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Jacket for Your Kindle January 22, 2011
Color Name:Black|Verified Purchase
This item does just about everything you'd want a protective sleeve for your Kindle to do. It has plastic tabs inside which you slide the Kindle into, and it holds the device securely. While the tabs hold the Kindle securely, the elastic band you can loop over the front cover can make it even more secure, and it feels tight and solid. It's great if you're going on a trip and for some reason leaving your Kindle in a suitcase that's going to be bounced around as it's on its way down the luggage dispenser. If you happen to drop your Kindle as well, this jacket will protect it solidly.

The front cover, while open, allows you to have the "feel" of holding a book while still using the Kindle's excellent features, but if you're one of the ubiquitous one-handed Kindle users, the front cover of this sleeve folds back against the back cover without feeling like you'll break the sleeve. The ripstop nylon cover is comfortable to hold, and has just enough friction so you can feel like it isn't going to slide around in your hands like a book's dustcover.

This sleeve comes in at $29.99, the starting price point of most Kindle sleeves, so while you aren't getting a phenomenal "deal", you're definitely getting all appropriate value out of the item. I recommend it for a solid, no-frills, no-nonsense protector for your Kindle.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been the Perfect Cover April 24, 2011
Color Name:Black|Verified Purchase
I looked dozens of covers and reviews before choosing this one. It seemed to be harder to pick a cover than choose the kindle. What did I look for in a cover?

First, I didn't want a cover: with a light (you can buy a cheap light if you need one); that might leave marks on the kindle (some covers did); that used velcro or a magnet to close (it uses elastic); where the material could crack on the seam over time (i.e. leather look-alike materials); that was big / heavy / bulky, etc.

Second, it didn't matter that: it wasn't leather (in fact, that was a good thing because it was much cheaper); it didn't have pockets to store papers or earbuds.

Finally, I wanted a cover that: wasn't too expensive; could fold back; was black; made of strong material (nylon in this case); gave access to buttons when closed; made it hard to accidentally turn the kindle on.

This cover has turned out to be perfect. I would recommend it if you're looking for an inexpensive, practical, no-nonsense cover that will do the simple task of protecting your kindle with nothing that can go wrong.

EDIT 27 Jul 11: I use my Kindle a lot and, sadly, the cover hasn't lasted the distance. The Kindle slides between two metal clasps at the top of the cover and is supported by two round clasps at the bottom. Unfortunately, one of the top clasps broke through normal use. Will need to find a new cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this case. February 1, 2011
Color Name:Grey|Verified Purchase
I scoured Amazon for the best case for my brand new Kindle. At first I didn't want to pay $30 for a case but I caved since I wanted a well-made case that lasted. It was between this Incipio case and the M-Edge Trip and I'm glad the Incipio won out.

The case is extremely well made and hardy. I love the off-white/muted grey nylon and black band contrast and the suede lining is well done. I love that the Kindle easily slides into the plastic holding tabs but that there's no fear of it sliding out when it's inside a purse because it's securely locked in place. The tabs also don't cover any of the bottom buttons so there's easy access to the power off/sleep switch. The band that holds the case closed is also very tight and not loose, which is great, and the cover is easily folded back for one-handed reading.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase! Incipio makes great cases for iPhones and iPods and now they make great Kindle cases to boot.
