Purchased this device and like the looks and protection it offered. However after light use, often just left at home on the counter, the cover began to crumble. The corners and clips fastening it crumbled away leaving the case unusable. This happened in a mere 6 months of use, which included perhaps 2 trips. I would not recommend this case, as again it failed not even with hard use.

I bought this for my 2nd Generation MacBook Air.

A few notes: It's very thin and therefore very easy to crack. While trying to gently remove one side of the case, the thing cracked and is now useless to me.

The reason I was removing it? Because with both sides of the case on, it made a distinct (and annoying) clicking sound every time I opened the lid. The two pieces of plastic would rub against each other near the hinge. Highly recommend looking elsewhere. I later purchased a Speck shell that works far better and isn't nearly as flimsy as this.

This case fits will and looks nice. The finger stains are noticeable but not problematic for me. Unfortunately I cannot open my screen more than 90 degrees, making the it impossible to see when it's resting on my lap. I am very disappointed, for the case renders the computer useless. I will be returning this item.

the material and color are rich. i can't dispute that.... very classy i should say compared to speck product.... finger smudges are a minus.....

however, the base skin is impossible to fit into the computer...... and i noticed that my mba overheats more with his on even without video being played,... irritating... something that i did not experience with speck

I'm extremely careful with my MacBook and I've never dropped it or handled it in any aggressive manner. That being said, I like to clean my electronics every once in awhile because so much dust accumulates in-between the shell and the computer. The first time I removed the case (about two months in), it cracked and one of the tabs came off. I was being incredibly careful and there are now three cracks by the track pad. I have one on top. I feel like for spending $50 on a case, it should have lasted much longer than it did. I probably won't purchase anymore Incipio products. If it cracks easily just by removing the case, imagine what would happen after a hard fall.

I loved this case for the first couple of months. Then it happened. It started cracking and breaking on both the top and bottom cases. It cracked on the edges, sides and the tabs which hold it on broke off as well. I am extremely anal about protecting my electronics and have never dropped or been rough with my MacBook Air. It usually sits on my couch and if I do leave the house with it I put it in a neoprene slip cover. If you read the reviews on the Apple site you will see others with the same problem. I wish I would have read those reviews before I spent $50 on it the day I bought my computer at my local Apple store.

The case I received caused a clicking noise when the lid was opened. This was caused by the snaps on the base hitting the lid joint. I returned my case, because over time I felt this would have an effect on the lid. A MacBook Air vs a snap case? MacBook Air wins. And for $40 I expected a better product. There was also another place being rubbed, but I could have lived with that one. If Amazon does not give a full refund, I will post a follow up.

I was swayed by the positive reviews this case received and placed my order. The case is thin and light and does a good job protecting the computer. For this reason alone the case deserves several stars. However, there are two factors that drive me to write this review and debunk any positive ratings that the case has received. First, vanity. Whether natural oil from fingertips or something more insidious like butter from a bagel from the local coffee shop, oil stains the cover and proves impossible to remove. Finding these superficial blemishes a nuisance and distraction, I began my attempt to remove the case from my MacBook Air. This turned into a struggle of epic proportion and fortunately for me, the cover broke before my MacBook Air did. The cover is nearly impossible to remove intact in the absence of fingernails made of titanium. The cover is junk and is the epitome of planned obsolescence.
