Color: Neon Pink

The f38 hi-fi stereo headphones by Incipio are a new standard in the world of high fidelity audio. Its classic styling pays homage to a simpler time where clean design is paired with superb sound. The f38 is powered by a 38 mm driver unit, the product's namesake and is the source of the bass rich, full spectrum sound that is the hallmark of the headphones.

Love the matte black look.

These go on very comfortable, but end up pushing my ear lobe against my head.

Just an update on this: After more than a year of very rough and careless use, the audio now only comes through one ear. I got mine used to begin with, so considering the almost-disposable price tag, I'm not really bothered by it. I replaced them with a portable Meelectronics pair that costs twice as much and got great reviews. After about a month of relatively bloated bass and inferior instrument separation, I gifted them to my girlfriend and bought another pair of these. It's nice to hear my music again. I will get another (3rd) pair when these break.

--------

I'm a frugal audiophile. I put a lot of time into researching the best value per dollar audio experience I can get. At $60, I would call these a decent value. At $40 or below, don't hesitate to purchase if you like to actually HEAR your music.

I bought these used, so there was no burn in required.

Sound:
Tight Bass
Forward Mids
Sparkling Highs

Most of my headphones prior to this have been IEMs, with the exception of a pair of Creative Aurvana Live Headphones. The creative 'phones are a less expensive re-branding of DENON's AH-D1001, THEMSELVES known for already being a great deal.

These headphones are also a less expensive re-branding, this time of Fischer Audio's FA-004. Look up reviews for that headphone if you want an audiophile's description of the sound. I'll simply be giving my humble opinion:

Money completed aside, this pair of headphones is every bit as good as my Creatives. Although the Creatives give a deeper bass punch and overall is fairly "U" shaped, this pair is more even. The highs are also much more sparkly (ALMOST sibilant) and defined to my ears.

the f38 are some nice headphones with amazing sound quality but its a few thing you must do first. first there are small thin layers of foam over the drivers in each can , tear that crap off to expose the driver. second if you want, tear the cloth off the inner ear cup, that makes a small difference, and third. the most important thing to do, you must do a process call burn in. simply put, you play music through the headphone for about 5 hours plus to expand the frequency range to the intended range. this is like breaking in a new pair of shoes, and over time the sound quality will better ... much better. but the headphones do sound good out of the box, im just an audiophile

-OVERVIEW-
The Incipio f38's are a very high quality product. They have an exceptional build quality and are great sounding. They rival many higher end Sennhiseres (HD 558, $200). They are very easy to adjust, and are extremely comfortable. I have worn them for hours without discomfort.

-AUDIO QUALITY-
They are suitable for a wide range of music, from classical to dubstep to rap. They have a very good frequency response, with soaring highs and punchy lows. They may take a while to reach their best, as many headphones do. Their 40 mm drivers can reproduce practically any frequency without distortion.

-BUILD QUALITY-
Overall, the build quality from these headphones is much better than expected from a $30-$40 pair. They are very solid, and have survived being dropped from chest height a few times. The padding around the headphones is adequate, and the finish on the padding does not easily tear or deteriorate. The padding on the top band of the headphones is very comfortable, and the finish is very good quality although after a year of use some small "fibers" show (it is almost imperceptible).

-COMFORT-
These are possibly the most comfortable headphones i've worn, and thats saying something. They can be worn for hours on end without any discomfort. They are well padded and are great to wear.

-STYLING-
These headphones have a retro style, and look very good to my eye. However they can stick out a bit.

Overall they are worth buying.

For the money, the look and sound of these headphones is a phenomenal deal. My beef is the fit. First, they seemed to be designed for someone with a larger head. I have it on the smallest sizing and they are still a touch too big. Secondly, the arc of the headphone is too great which results in too much pressure underneath the ear. With some bending I was able to get them to fit better, but I'm not sure how much bending they are designed to take.

My wife loves everything hot pink, so these were a great gift. Sound quality is more than adequate for the price range as most people aren't audiophiles. The one kicker is when she put them in the free carrying bag, it absorbed the dye from the bag. I've ordered a replacement, but would never use the bag again.

I bought these headphones back when they cost about $30 and they're worth the price. The sound quality of the f38s is superior to every other headphones/earbuds I've tried in this price range.

Out of the box, the clamping force was very strong and uncomfortable. Several months later, the foam has softened up and the set is more comfortable. Still, I wouldn't recommend the f38s to glasses-wearers... unless you don't mind wearing a hat underneath to lessen the pressure on the temple arms above your ears.
