The battery life was about 4 hours or so.

I considered many bluetooth speakers (Jawbone, JBL, Bose, Sony, UE, Oontz, HDMX) and the Braven is way under-appreciated.

Overall, I am very happy with its performance and the sound quality is very good.

First, I'd like to preface this review by stated that I am a pro-audio snob and professional musician that generally purchases higher end audio equipment.

I should also note that I bought it off of ebay, for half of what the price is on Amazon (brand new in box). When it first arrived, I was pretty anxious to see what it sounded like. I unboxed everything and plugged the 3.5mm jack into the speaker and into my phone. I cranked up the volume all the way just to get an idea of how loud it could go, and it sounded absolutely TERRIBLE! The speaker was distorting, vibrating inside, hissing, making all kinds of noises. I was pretty disappointed and threw it all back in the box and went home with it. When I got to my girlfriend's place, I pulled it back out and sat it on the kitchen counter and paired her iPhone to it (iPhone 4). Pairing was incredibly simple and quick. She was streaming a jazz station from Pandora, and amazingly the speaker sounded incredible. I couldn't believe it was the same speaker! We messed around with it quite a bit, trying various types of music, at different volumes and using different EQs. I think what we discovered was that, this thing plays very very well with streaming (compresses) music. It also generally sounds pretty good playing music in your music library over bluetooth. However, plugged directly in, the thing just doesn't sound good at all. I don't know if anyone else has had a similar experience or not. But I turned off the EQ on my phone, and if anything, selected the Bass Reducer EQ and stuck with that so that the thing doesn't distort so bad.

Construction is ok. It's plastic, fairly simple looking with just a few buttons. It's incredibly light weight. I haven't used it enough to comment on battery life, but my biggest concern was audio quality.

I bought this speaker despite all of the bad reviews I read regarding the power switch on other sites. What they all reported I found to be true. The power switch broke the first day. I turned it on in the morning and listened to it all day long. When I went to turn it off for the night, the switch was inoperable. Just two uses and it was broken. Hardly adequate for a portable device. I was quite disappointed considering the speaker sounded great and I was able to hear it throughout my 1400 sqft home with no problems. I had plans to use it in my truck as a hands free phone device as well as Pandora player, but I will be looking for something else.

For 99 dollars, I thought I would get a bit more. I like the lightness and color. I stained my deck last Saturday and the battery lasted all nine hours I was outside and never died. I like the idea of being able to charge my I touch with it in a pinch. The sound was fine in my bedroom, but not so good outside. I wish it went louder. All in all I think I'll keep it and maybe get the 855 for outside later down the road.

Was looking for something to replace my Monster Iclarity HD which broke. While shopping around I considered all the big names (Jawbone Jambox, Beats Pill, Bose Soundlink Mini, etc.) but didn't feel like spending a ton of $$$ for something I was mainly going to use in the office. While researching speakers the name Braven kept coming up in a pretty positive way review wise.

Luckily one of those daily deals websites was offering a refurbed 570 at a great price, so I jumped on it. Been using it for about a week now and I have to say it's a great little speaker. Seems to hit that sweet spot with crisp highs, decent lows and a nice mid range. It does distort when you crank it but my Monster did that as well.

The housing is plastic, but the build quality seems good. The Buttons seem a bit cheap, would of preferred rubber or metal instead of plastic but not a dealbreaker. The volume and speakerphone controls can be used to pause and skip forward or back. Would've loved separate controls but I rarely use the controls on the device to do those things. I usually do that on my phone or tablet.

I do like the usb slot that you can use to charge your phone or some other device. You can also daisy chain if you have more than one 570. Braven claims up to 8-10 hours of battery life, but I just keep it plugged in so again not an issue for me.

To wrap things up- I think for the priced offered here, it's a good deal. If you can find it for under $50.00 it's a fantastic deal. It doesn't have the hipness or design of a Jambox, or the street cred of the Beats Pill. But if you're looking for a great sounding BT speaker at a good price then I would recommend the Braven 570.

I really loved this lil guy, my best friend for a year. Then one day... nothing. No lights. No sound. Nothing. Here's a direct quote from customer service:

"The speaker should not have had those kind of issues as it is not common at all. If the speaker is not turning on, there really is no way for us to fix to issue so we apologize for the inconvenience. "

After some research I've this is, in fact, a common issue. Some have simply had the plastic power switch cap break, others (like myself) have had a faulty power switch all together.

If you DO have one of these, just leave it on... if you turn it off, you never know if it'll come back to life or not.

If you DON'T have one of these... don't buy one. Great speaker, but not worth the frustration.
