This shell is made from thick, dense silicone -- feels high quality. It gives the iPad a much grippier surface as my iPad wants to constantly slip out of my hands. The 'gaming bumps' don't really enhance gameplay, but it makes the iPad easier to set in your lap or lay flat on a table. And it's probably good for senior users or kids. It's the only shell I've tried that offers any shock absorption in case you drop it. It also comes with a static film protector for the glass.
However, the 1337 adds considerable bulk to your iPad. Stephen Colbert would never be able to slip it into his suit pocket. So if you have a slim travel sleeve, it probably won't fit either. If you have a Twelvesouth BookArc, you are out of luck too. Even with both inserts removed, the iPad won't fit in it.
EDIT: Just wanted to add that the orientation lock is extremely hard to switch. I struggle for at least 5 seconds every time trying to cram my finger far enough into the hole.
