At Last! A Self-Coaching Manual the Gets Results!, October 21, 2009
This review is from: Income Double/Half The Trouble: Fundamentals and Breakthroughs for Business and Personal Success (Paperback)
At Last! A concise, well-written, impactful and actionable guide to help anyone create the success they desire in business and in life!
In just 148 pages, Flaks distills down the wisdom of the ages, with helpful and thoughtful tools to create and implement an action plan for success.
The book breaks down into three key sections: Believe, Delete, Duplicate with Leverage.
The first section - "Believe" - focuses on identifying and overcoming your limiting beliefs. Once you can identify the internal beliefs you have that may be holding you back, you can set yourself free. As Flaks points out, oftentimes, just the awareness can make all the difference, but he provides tools and worksheets to help you think through how to actively CHANGE the limiting beliefs by reframing into a more productive light. He draws upon the foundations of cognitive psychology, but puts it into easy to understand and use real tools.
Next - in "Delete" - the author focuses on eliminating the small, yet nagging daily things that can prevent us from being as productive as possible. I must say, this section was a real eye-opener for me; it's easy to ignore the small, niggling things - not realizing how much all of those small things compete for our attention and create distractions. Whether it's our physical environment, small errands to take care of, or relationships that may not be as mutually beneficial as possible - these multiple small things can create a real drag on our outlook, our motivation, and our productivity. There are some great tools and worksheets to help you identify and rectify your energy drains.
In "Duplicate with Leverage", Flaks give new light and meaning to the 80/20 rule. He provides great guidance and (again) usable real tools to identify your "best bets" (the Top 20%), and then how to focus your time, energy, and resources against that Top 20%. If you can do that, you have the ability to replicate that up to 5 times; 20% X 5 = 100%) to see exponential returns in your goals and results.
Of key importance throughout the book is Flaks' emphasis on how he defines "income." This is not a "get rich quick" book. Income is defined as "everything you want to 'come in' to your life, including, but not limited to, money."
In other words, "Income Double, Half the Trouble" is a guide to help you craft the life you want - in your career, in your relationships, in your leisure. It's about crafting and living the life of your dreams. Jonathan Flaks provides the tools - it's up to you to make it happen.
If you are serious about creating the life you dream about, this book will give you the tools to get there.

Sensible, smart and do-able, October 28, 2009
This review is from: Income Double/Half The Trouble: Fundamentals and Breakthroughs for Business and Personal Success (Paperback)
Jonathan Flaks knows what he's talking about. This is not a bunch of hyper-inflated hooey. Nor is it magical thinking. It is practical, do-able and well-rounded life and professional advice, such as you might get from an older and wiser sibling - but a lot better organized.
I've seen Jonathan speak in person, and spent a little time with him. He's a helpful, modest, focused, genuine person that does not pretend to have a one-size-fits-all magic formula. He's instead more of a coach to assist you with your own personal explorations, goal formulations, issue clarifications and the like. Plus some nifty tricks and tips.
So, you have to "show up" and do the work. But if you are willing, Jonathan's book will help you get the most profitable and longest lasting results. In other words, it's the real deal, not some pumped-up jive just to make you feel good for the next two hours.
Try it!

An Instructive Book for Entrepreneurs or Those Who Would Be, September 21, 2010
This review is from: Income Double/Half The Trouble: Fundamentals and Breakthroughs for Business and Personal Success (Paperback)
Most entrepreneurs do it at one time or another: limit the potential of themselves and their businesses by poorly allocating their time and believing that being overwhelmed is an inevitable part of being the boss. Master Certified Coach Jonathan Flaks has written a useful book called Income Double - Half the Trouble to help business owners break through this negative cycle and get out of their own way.
To accomplish this, according to Flaks, you need to do three things: believe, delete and duplicate. "The Believe step involves finding out what is in your head that might be holding you back or giving you unrealistic notions. The Delete step involves eliminating obstacles of all kinds. The Duplicate step involves doing twice as much of whatever produces your best bets," he notes.
Flaks goes on to illustrate how to implement each step to get your thinking on the right track, with a series of thought-provoking, useful exercises in self-awareness. One of the core principles of his book is that entrepreneurs and others are held back by limiting beliefs. If you can't change what you believe, you can't double your positive results. He illustrates the concept of "frame shifting" to enable people to view situations from a different perspective without the usual self-imposed constraints.
One of the most useful sections in the book shows you how to deal with "energy drains" that clutter your thought process. You may be tolerating irritants from your office, your home, your family, your personal finances or your health. Flaks shows you how to either change what's wrong or embrace it, and to make a decision by a fixed date, leaving yourself the space to be creative about your business.
