3.0 out of 5 stars Great, but could be better!, June 4, 2010

I think this textbook and workbook is great. It gives you a lot of real-life examples as well as a lot of practice problems to apply what you've learned. The biggest drawback for this product is that it is a hassle to get your hands on a copy of the solution manual. This book only comes with solutions for the self-study problems which are a handful after each chapter. It includes a bunch of practice problems where the solutions are in a separate manual that only professors and teachers can obtain. Otherwise, you can try to buy the solutions somewhere online even though those people aren't supposed to sell them. If you try to go to the publisher, they won't let you buy the solutions either. So in summary, this textbook is pretty good, but without the solutions readily available, what's the point?

I am currently using this book and like it, but if you need to use the cd be warned that it is not MAC OS compatable. The book is easy to understand and has lots of practice problems.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Described, September 17, 2010

Book is reasonably functional, though omits some practical guidance on actually filling out lines on IRS forms, which would be simple to add and helpful. The biggest problem, however, is that the product description neglects to mention that the CD is for Windows operating systems only; in other words, too bad, all you Mac users, who might be surprised to discover the CD is non-functional for them. 1) Is it hard to mention this in advance? No, it's not. 2) Does whoever is writing the description not know this is significant? 3) Why would a major tax-software company not bother to supply a CD that offers the option for either PC or Mac?
