Frank Chodorov was an extraordinary thinker and writer, and hugely influential in the 1950s. This is his American classic that argues that the income tax, more than any other legislative change in American history, made it possible to violate individual rights that were at the core of the founding.
He argues that income taxes are different from other forms because they deny the right of private property and presume government control over all things. The introduction is by former IRS commissioner J. Bracken Lee.

Found this gem, to my great surprise in the university library-it gave articulation to everything brooding in me that I felt to be wrong with the idea and execution of the income tax. Radical doesn't begin to describe this. Get it from the Mises Institute (mises.org) and help fund the continued printing and study of works like these.

First off, this is an absolutely fantastic book. Short and concise, this book is a powerful tool in shaping your mind to get your liberty back that we all deserve. This book is not for the liberal or progressive but it's a great lesson in history of tyranny. I especially loved the first half of the book with it's wisdom in politics and what makes politicians tick. It even brings up Social Security and it's long term prospects... not good. In summary, this book could have been written today and it's never been more important to read than right now.
