Glad I Got It!,

This review is from: Incra MITER1000SE Miter Gauge Special Edition With Telescoping Fence and Dual Flip Shop Stop (Tools & Home Improvement)
Got the Incra Miter 1000SE a couple weeks ago (thanks to an Amazon sale price) and have nothing but praise for it so far. It was dead on right out of the box, although adjustments should be easy if ever necessary. There was very little assembly required, and Incra makes sure you have all the parts necessary (and then some...they threw in extra screws and other bits and pieces). One thing the Incra fence has that I've not seen on any of the others is the Incra "teeth" that engage the sliding stop. Very, very repeatable, and with the micro adjust screw, very adjustable, so you can get anywhere between the 1/32" teeth.
Even though the stock gauge that came with my table saw has "stops" at 90 and 45 degrees, it was never trustworthy, so I had to check it each time I used it. I really like being able to set the Incra miter gauge at 45 degrees (or any other setting) and using it confidently without first checking to be sure the angle is right. The gauge seems rock solid. I've seen no flex issues. The bent sheet metal aspect of the gauge head is very substantial (IMHO) and I've not seen any evidence of flex with the fence extenced out. Granted, if I grab the extended fence and try to slide the saw sideways across the shop, it'll flex some, but I've not seen any flex in normal, reasonable use. I found it useful to add a piece of scrap 3/4" material for a sacrificial fence extension, but Incra includes the necessary screws, and the sliding stop can be quickly adjusted to accomodate the additional fence thickness. All in all, it's a well thought out and nicely executed product.

Finally, accurate miters from my table saw!,

This review is from: Incra MITER1000SE Miter Gauge Special Edition With Telescoping Fence and Dual Flip Shop Stop (Tools & Home Improvement)
I had used the factory miter gauge that came with my Ridgid TS2400 table saw on a few projects and even after saw and miter gauge calibration I was still coming up with inaccurate miters. I decided it was time to buy a new miter gauge. I was researching miter gauges and had narrowed it down to the Osborne EB-3 and the Incra Miter 1000-SE. The Osborne had a number of disappointing reviews so I decided on the Incra. I could not be happier with my purchase. Setup took around a half an hour and was very easy. Within an hour I had already put the miter gauge to the ultimate test and had cut and assembled an octagon out of some scrap wood. The octagon came out perfect proving the miter gauge was set up correctly and that it is dead accurate. The only complaint I have is in order to make adjustments to the fence you have to use the tool Incra provides (I guess I could replace their screws). Other than that, I absolutely love the Incra Miter 1000-SE and can see myself now using my table saw more for miters rather than my chop saw.

lots of adjustments you must play with,

The Incra does have a lot going for it. In its price range, it is much better than the Kreg. It is not as nice as the Jessem but then your not paying the big Jessem price.
I am not that crazy about the split nylon washers they use to take the slop out of the table slot. I had to play with that a good while but when you get it right it feels pretty good. we'll see how long it holds up without readjusting. The other thing the bugs me is the "erector set" way you have to shim, adjust, readjust, all kinds of things. I dont want to spend time doing these things, just make my cuts and get on with my project. The instructions do get a bit confusing too. When you get it all set up it does do a nice job and the quality is very good. I looked long and hard at many models and this one is the best all around without spending more than what your tablesaw might have cost.

This miter gauge is very accurate and is made extremely well. I made this purchase for the infinite number of angles you can easily cut with a table saw. I usually make jigs but figured I would give Incra a shot.
The teeth on the gauge allow you to lock in to a specific angle and the pin also includes a gauge which can handle 1/2 degree increments. I too received instructions for a different model as one of the other reviewers. All in all, it was easy to figure out how to assemble. If you want to save your fingers and stop making jigs, buy this, you won't be sorry.

Great miter gauge,

WOW - I cannot believe the accuracy of this thing. I used to hate making picture frames, not anymore. It is sad that when you spend $2000 on a table saw that you have to then spend another $150 or so to get a decent miter gauge, but what an improvement. The miter gauge is just like a fence, if it wobbles or is loose at all, it is junk and you will get poor results. Incra has solved all of the problems associated with miter gauges and they have done it in an easy to use package. There is quite an instruction manual that comes with this thing so be prepared to sit down for a few minutes and actually read the instructions - you will be well rewarded with accuracy and ease of set-up. I plan on buying more Incra products - the accuracy is very addictive!

Great Tool but check the fence!,

The tool is great as many others have described, but there is one defect, at least in my purchase. The fence is attached to the base using two T screws. One would assume the right angle bracket is 90 degrees but mine was not. I had to shim the fence against the bracket to make it 90 degrees. Will check with the manufacturer about this. It sure was a surprise when trying to make a box, and finding the angles were off.

Setup is straight forward. Unit cuts perfect at any degree setting. I found a few items that I thought needed some improvements, or fine tuning. The manual states that the tap measure will stay in place, but you could secure with double face tape. I would strong recommend doing so. In normal use with your hands on top of the fence you could inveterately slide the tape out of adjustment. Also when you pivot the fence to the left to 45 degrees the fence will be the way of the blade, so you have to loose the protractor from the fence and move out of the way. Once your done, and move back to the 0 position you will have to run through the set up again. I installed a small aluminum stop on the back side of the fence to bring me back to my original settings. Last there is limited space to install a piece of wood at the blade side of the fence to control tear out on your work piece. Bottom line the product is well built and works well, it has help me with my shop productivity.

Seriuosly guys, for the price you can't beat it. If you set it up right the first time, it's very accurate. Be carefull when ordering...there are a lot of different groove sizes out there. Just because it says it will fit your application, measure carefully!!! I had to have some machine work done due to my stupidity. It fit's like a glove now and very smooth, adaptable to table saw, band saw and sanders.

The Incra 1000SE Miter is just what I wanted for cabinet making. I can accurately adjust the miter to get any angle, and I know that it will be right. It is easily adjusted, and is very solid, too.
Between Amazon and the supplier that I bought from (Grizzly), they managed to raise the price by $73 overnight, so let the buyer beware!

Good Addition to Any Tablesaw,
By Tax Filer (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Incra MITER1000SE Miter Gauge Special Edition With Telescoping Fence and Dual Flip Shop Stop (Tools & Home Improvement)
There isn't much I don't like about this miter gauge. It has most of what you are looking for. Accuracy, strength, etc. So in that sense it's great. I'll focus on the few lacking features. It is best if you only need to use it on one side of the tablesaw because switching it to the other side is a pain. You need to loosen and re-adjust the wood support to keep it from hitting the blade. The extension comes off easily enough, but it's held on with these loose brackets that are easy to lose. The metal is also ridiculously smooth. That's actually a problem when trying to hold your work in place as you pass it through a blade - particularly a dado head. So you really need to add sandpaper to the front, but that really defeats the way the flip-guide works. Since I cut things to length on the mitre saw that isn't a big deal for me, but could annoy some. (FYI, if you need to put sandpaper on this or any jig - try skateboard grip tape (sold on Amazon). You get a huge sheet for $3.50, it sticky, it's available in lots of colors and provides just the right amount of friction)
