4.0 out of 5 stars disappointed with incra miter gauge
The product itself is OK but with the following reservation: The nylon material used in the adjustable spacers that are supposed to keep the miter bar tight in the table saw's miter slot wears quickly. I've had mine for about a year and it no longer delivers a satisfactory degree of accuracy in making 90 degree cuts. I've since stopped using it. If Incra would modify...

2.0 out of 5 stars There are better miter gauges
The INCRA 2000 has two faults.
1) The Angle bracket that holds the fence is just a bent piece of steel. Mine was far from square and had a slight twist. Tired of the recommended shimming to correct, I made my own from angled stock.
2) The handle easily comes loose in use, allowing the fence to move on the base plate during a cut.

If Incra would modify the miter bar with set screws like those used in Delta's new deluxe miter bar, the product would be improved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incra 2000/27 Miter Gauge, January 13, 2005

Any Incra jig is a winner. The 2000 is no exception. For a few dollars more than the Incra 1000 you get positive stops every one (1) degree, rather than every 5 degrees as on the 1000. Additionally there is another indexed stop which then makes all the positive stops on the 1/2 degree. Marvelous instrument, especially when compared to the miter gauge that came with my Sears table saw 22 years ago.

Update 31 Mar 05: Now that I've been using the Incra 2000 for a few months, I find zero defects, zero detractors for this miter gauge. In fact, I finally can make 45 deg angles that are more accurate than the wood movement that occurs in any project. You cannot get any better than that!

4.0 out of 5 stars Poor set-up, good operation, October 20, 2003

The short version: set-up took about 3 hrs due to poor directions, sloppy detailing and bad drawings. Operation met expectations.

If you buy, prepare as follows:

1. Get about 10 machinist shims in increments of .001 or .002. These will be needed to adjust to square with your table. This beats measuring slips of paper with a micrometer and figuring out how many to slide into place. Mine took .005 to square. Their "Tip" between steps 1 and 2.

2. Do calibration step 1before step 2 in assembly to avoid double handling. Remove the allen screws and rub with some wax or dry lubricant. The screw heads build-up so much friction against the plastic expansion washers that you can almost break your 7/64 allen wrench.

3. When setting up for the right side --IGNORE their drawing and instructions. They show a through slot connecting the fence to the mounting bracket. It is not slotted which means that when you remove the fence; you can't get in back in with loose washers supplied. I ended up making a ball of wax paper to put behind their slotted washer to be able to reinstall the cap screws -- this will make sense when you see the unit.

Remember that you will have to do the same table squaring step for the right side as you did on the left.

It's incredible that they supply a part that's completely different than their drawing.

4. The Shop Stop is generally well designed part, but the manual provided is useless for initial set-up. The rack system is very accurate and the positioning works well after you set the rule to your machine.

In operation, the unit is excellent. Changing from 90 to 45 takes 5 seconds and is totally accurate.

Too bad they don't have someone in engineering actually assemble the unit from their drawings and instructions before sending out to customers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Precision miters!, November 30, 2001

This is a bit pricey, but not much more than similar models from various manufacturers. If you make only 90 degree cuts, then it is a waste of money to buy this. But once you set this miter gauge for perpendicularity to the blade, all the other angle cuts are very precise -- I checked the various settings with my Bosch electronic protractor and Master Plate. It is great comfort to know that I am cutting precise 45 degree miters without having to check the settings everytime beforehand. The micro-adjusting slider resulted in no play at all on my Delta Contractor's Saw miter slot. Well-machined and constructed, it should hold up to years and years of use. Highly recommended.

It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny of it. It was very easy to true-in. It's designed so that you can set everything in reference to the table saw, great for accuracy. Smooth as silk, and dead-on accurate to boot. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, accurate miters, February 15, 2002

What a great addition to my shop! I have set up my Craftsman contractor's saw as the center piece of my shop. I perform as many operations there as I can. This tool has given me the accuracy I desired in making miters and in cutting stock to length. It took less than 10 minutes to set up (I set mine to work on the right side of the blade) and my first cut was dead square.

While the included stop is extremely accurate, it lacks a hairline pointer for easy set up. Once you figure out how to sight down the end of the stop, it's simple enough to use.

What really makes this guage great is the fact that you get absolute repeatability. 45 degrees is 45 degrees everytime you set it. No fuss and no doubt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incra 2000 kicks, September 5, 2003

Bought the Incra 2000/27 after looking at Woodhaven and BP-3, and after reading reviews on all products. Set it up on a Delta 10 inch contractor saw, and got a perfect cut first time. Smooth operation, and the detent settings are crisp. It was more money than I had wanted to spend, but after playing with it for quite a while I already feel like it was the right decision. The wide miter is great for support, and adjustment to my miter slot was a snap. No downside that I have found yet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Incra 2000/27 Miter Gauge, February 8, 2006
This review is from: Incra MITER2000/27 Table Saw Miter Gauge (Tools & Home Improvement)
Recently purchased the Incar 2000 Miter Gauge. I have tried for years to accurately cut mitered angles with mediocre success.
I spent a very careful hour setting up the Miter Gauge. When set up was complete (followed directions explictly) I tested the product. I took 8 pieces of stock 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 12" and proceeded to cut 22 1/2 degree angles on both ends. Laid all eight pieces on the work bench and dry fitted a perfect hexagon. You can't get a human hair in the joints. This is an expensive tool but for the first time ever I can cut extremely accurate angles. This tool should dramatically enhance my abilities.
I am not thrilled about the "stock stop" feature but that is a secondary need for me.

I did not find this product so perfect out of the box. Yes, it's easy to set up (great instruction booklet) but I used the extra adjusters in the miter slot and still have a little play on a Powermatic 64A table saw. The biggest problem I have is that the fence is not 90 degrees to the table. It's 90 degrees but when you tighten the screws it's way off. I had to put shims in the fence attachment to get it accurate. My homemade sleds are much better than this for cross cutting. Fortunately I bought this for angled cuts which it is great for - so easy.
