5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Better Series on Intelligent Design
Many of the critiques on this series are based on whether or not this series lines up with someone's opinion on the formation of these creatures. From the title it is obvious what direction Dr. Jobe is coming from.
For that reason I think it is silly to rate a well put together series lower because you don't agree with the content.
Regardless it is made...

I own I, II, & III. I enjoyed learning about the unique design characteristics of nature and animals which lead to the conclusion that evolution doesn't have all the answers. However I was put off by the constant ridiculing by Dr. Jobe Martin of darwinist and evolutionist. Regardless it is made well, informative, thought provoking & interesting even for kids. For that reason & not what I think of creation vs. evolution, I am giving it 5 stars.

However I was put off by the constant ridiculing by Dr. Jobe Martin of darwinist and evolutionist. I would like to show these DVDs to friends who are undecided on this issue but feel they would grow tired of his constant hammering against evolution. I don't mind facts being presented to build a case, but there is a tinge of sarcasm that comes through when Dr. Martin says "you tell me, how did that evolve?" It's not that I don't agree, it's just hearing it over and over and over and over.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Dougv, October 2, 2011
This review is from: Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution 1 (DVD)
An excellent presentation. Very interesting facts, good photography, and narration. The content is so rich, I had
to see it in several sittings. The dvd shows evolution as an invalid theory and creation by God a certainty. A wonderful
video. Don't miss it. Volumes 2 and 3 are good also.
There's no movie on creation vs. evolution that compares with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating insight as to how living creatures are designed, May 9, 2008

Living creatures are here when we're born and you see can them at the zoo and on the Discovery Channel. They are entertaining to watch. However, this video goes into greater depth about some amazing creatures and show how their designs rival some of Man's best products. The point? If we don't believe cars, watches, or toasters got her by mere chance, then how can we believe these living creatures did?

3.0 out of 5 stars Cool biology, but "defy evolution"? I think not, November 16, 2011
This review is from: Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution 1 (DVD)
Believing in evolution (as I do) caused me to watch this movie. I have been looking for anything in "creation science" that resembles "science" for some time now and am sad to report still have not found it. There are a lot of very cool animals in this movie that can do some very cool things. That was the part of the movie I enjoyed. The narrator going "Well how could that have evolved?" and me yelling at the screen "Like this you idiot!!!" was the part I did not. If you want to believe that God created the world and all the animals that's fine by me, but trying to convince someone by saying "Well I don't see how that could have evolved" that God created all the animals is preying on the weak minded...if you'll pardon the pun.

1.0 out of 5 stars Almost comical in it's simplistic attempt to debunk evolution., March 4, 2011

What is this, some kind of a joke? I thought this might be interesting but the examples used have been explained many times before in science journals. To argue against a subject, first you must understand it. The dentist who is trying to debunk evolution clearly does not understand the subject and is relying on you knowing even less.
His argument is basically that if scientists can't explain every step, in detail, of how evolution occurs then the explanation defaults to a creator. Then, of course, the creator is the one he believes in.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, March 18, 2011
I attempted to watch this thinking it was a scientifically-valid documentary, however, it's really just cheesy creationist propaganda. Poorly done at that. Seriously, a dentist? That's your "medical and science" expert?? The reality is, most real medical doctors today are not properly trained in evolution, much less some old dentist who probably went to dental school in the 60's. You are entitled to believe whatever you want, but simply saying "This is just too complex to have been shaped by evolution, must be something else!" is ridiculous. There are probably experts on these animals (and I don't mean a random dentist but zoologists or entomologist) who can tell you a lot about how these creatures evolved over time.

When I see things like this, so poorly done, so clearly biased and factually unfounded, it just makes me sad because I realize how many people lack critical thinking skills... so many people just swallow what they are fed without questioning. It's sad sad sad. This is what's wrong with the world.

For those who watch this and think that it proves something, I just want to say... it doesn't matter how many animals died during the process, all that matters are the ones that SURVIVED. Evolution tells us the story of the winners, the ones who survived long enough to reproduce. It doesn't matter if 500,000 of those exploding bugs blew themselves up, the few that didn't (maybe they had a defect that prevented them from making the same quantity or potency as the others) went on to reproduce a generation of bugs that could shoot this crap out of their asses and not kill themselves in the process. It's not that hard to understand if you think about it! Evolution is just change over time... it doesn't prove that god doesn't exist, it doesn't tell you what to believe or how to live your life. I wish propaganda such as this video would stop making it seem like that!

2.0 out of 5 stars A creationist's lack of understanding of valid scientific thought makes the case for science more than for creationism, September 21, 2008
This review is from: Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution 1 (DVD)
Here's the deal: I'm a scientifically trained (medical doctor) Christian. I have always believed "Creation--definitely; Evolution--probably."

In other words while I believe the THEORY of Evolution best fits the available facts,(it IS still a theory, BTW) I have always believed that IF evolution is true, then God controlled it. In other words, I believe that "Evolution" is simply man's attempt to put into words, a methodical description of the process by which God developed His creation.

I had expected to enjoy this DVD. That being said, I was very dissatisfied with it. Although the alleged scientist whose story this is PURPORTS to have been an evolutionist, he surely does not speak as one who was ever well-versed in the science of evolution. The way he presents the animals and describes the "impossibility" of their evolution betrays a deep LACK of understanding about how evolution is theorized to work.

This work added little to my Faith and nothing to my understanding of science. I give it the second star, because I did enjoy watching the descriptions of the animals presented. Whether developed by the process of evolution or not, the glory and beauty of God's creation is unmistakeable!

4.0 out of 5 stars Challenging Evolution, Showing Design in Creation, December 23, 2008
This review is from: Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution 1 (DVD)
Considering the proliferation of the theory of evolution in our culture and in our educational institutions, a scientist who asserts his belief in Creationism, whether it is from a Young Earth Creationism or Old Earth Creationism standpoint or even from an Intelligent Design perspective, is bound to unnerve some when he calls into question the claims of evolutionists. To some, his constant calling into question of the scientific claims of evolutionists may come across as condescending, but then again, we ought to consider the treatment that the faith community receives when it comes to holding a belief in a Creator. See the DVD Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed or Icons Of Evolution.

This DVD is well done with great close-ups of the animals described. There is no indication as to the appropriate age-range, but seems to be geared toward middle-school and up. I would have preferred it if the scientist describing the animals did not regularly comment that without a certain feature that the "animal is dead," "he's dead,"it's dead" etc. I think that for an educational DVD, it would be more appropriate to comment that the animal is alive because of its design and would not be able to survive if the evolutionary theory held true.

1.0 out of 5 stars Interesting concept, terrible execution..., June 22, 2011
This video has 3 huge problems, the first being the repetition of one single set of arguments repeated ad nauseum. Sadly the arguments they repeat over and over are the other 2 huge problems...

Problem #2 is that they make the argument from ignorance (argumentum ad ignorantiam) over and over and over. The argument they make: "We don't know, therefore god." is no more valid than "We don't know, therefore space aliens." or "We don't know, therefore magic." The lack of knowledge is NEVER a positive proof of anything, much less a "supreme being"... it is nothing more or less than an opportunity for further study.

The 3rd Problem with this video is the presentation of the teleological argument, or argument from design. This argument has been refuted from all sides and in all manners, in ways far too numerous to list here.

I would like to add that they do a great disservice to their audience by even suggesting the idea that everything we see in nature today is just one step away from the creation of the first cell. The video literally presents Big Bang *poof* Gas into solids *poof* Earth *poof* single cell *poof* giraffe. I mean, really? Yeah, I guess if you believe that a giraffe was the first thing that happened after a cell formed, design by would be the only explanation but that sad, straw-man argument is by no means the theory of evolution...

In summary, if you believe in God and seek to only be coddled and misinformed by people with similar beliefs telling you half truths and presenting faulty arguments, you will probably be thrilled with this video... just don't present these "amazing" animals to your non-Christian friends in an attempt to convert them to God... the only thing they will question after watching this video is the intelligence of the people that made it and your sanity for buying into it...
