Keep Them Going, Marvel!,
By
This review is from: Incredible Hulk (Marvel Essentials, Vol. 4) (Paperback)
Here's hoping that the Hulk can get a 5th and even 6th ESSENTIAL volume going for him. While the FF, Spider-Man and X-Men make their way to vol. 8, we've got ol' greenskin chugging along with only 4 books. This volume collects issues #148-170, but the Hulk's best stories are yet to come and the vibe falls a bit short as the shuffling of writers keep the pacing from actually progressing. (With issue #179, Len Wein would become the first steady writer on the title since the days of Stan Lee/Roy Thomas, but I'm getting ahead of myself...)
"Happy" Herb Trimpe continues with the steady art chores, but as before, Trimpe's best work hadn't hit the presses yet, so keep them coming Marvel! We want our Hulk!!!

This is what the Hulk should be!,

This review is from: Incredible Hulk (Marvel Essentials, Vol. 4) (Paperback)
Essential Hulk volume 4 collects one of the best runs of comics in the history of the character. Herb Trimpe is at his best with the art chores bringing us some of the most classic tales in Marvel history. Every story is fun, action-packed and features great villains as well as interesting sub-plots with the supporting cast. In these pages you will see the Hulk battle villains such as Rhino, MODOK, the Harpy, Zzzax, the Leader, Abomination and more!

Classic Marvel Madness!,

This review is from: Incredible Hulk (Marvel Essentials, Vol. 4) (Paperback)
This volume contains Harlan Ellison's classic Hulk stories. If you're a fan of either Old School Marvel, or the brilliant futurist/SF writer Ellison, then give it a try!

This review is from: Incredible Hulk (Marvel Essentials, Vol. 4) (Paperback)
I collected the actual comics when I was young and really looked forward to walking down memory lane. It was fun to leaf through, but after reading a few pages I realized how lame the actual writing was and I was bored. This is great for kids learning to read or hard core fans, but if you read actual books, you will be wasting your time.
