5.0 out of 5 stars only mothers can understand this GREAT BOOK!!
I just read another review from an expecting woman with her first child and was sad to hear that she was depress after reading this fabulous book. Honestly women have no idea to what being a MOTHER is until you are one!!! this book was a blessing to me as now I know that in some aspects of raising a child, I am not the only one who thinks that some days are horrible! I am...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected!
I thought this would be less cutsey, and more for an adult mom for Mother's Day. It's very cutsey, and I think one day, when her kids are in grade school, they will enjoy it, but not too good for an adult. It had so many good reviews, so I expected something different.

I found this book to be full of absolutely adorable photos and captions. It made me laugh out loud several times. It's a lighthearted look at motherhood - bits of wisdom mixed in with humor. Charming! I would recommend it as a fun gift for a mom or a mom-to-be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Obviously Put Together with Great Care, May 3, 2005
My gal Sara is a photographer as is her younger sister who is expecting, so we picked up this book of incredible black & white photographs of Animals, many of them with their mothers. The first page is a gorgeous shot of a baby Polar Bear, the second a kitten who looks like she's trying to lift a barbell. There are terrific shot of puppies, monkeys, giraffes and elephants. More shots of frogs, rhinos, hippos and kangaroos. Lots more to appreciate in this little book that was obviously put together with great care. Perfect for the expectant mother, perfect for her to share with her child later on too.

Once again I am writing a short bit about a Bradley Trevor Greive book. All of his little books with there superb photos of animals in very human situations are worth owning. They will all give you a million laughs. But I especially like this one, as it shows the trials and tribulations of mothers of all ages. Don't get me wrong, fathers will find laughs here too. I particularly like the photo of the timber wolf with her paw around her cub's shoulder. The baboon drinking bottled water is adorable too. Heck, who am I kidding, all the photos, each and every one, are adorable. I just love Mr. Grieve's books and if you have a funny bone anywhere in your body, or a tender one, you will too.

5.0 out of 5 stars candid and true, October 23, 2003
the "foul" language mentioned in other reviews consists of 2 or 3 "..."s, nothing vulgar.
there is a picture of 2 animals having .... but it more looks like the male bear is giving mom a backrub with a caption about parents being walked in on during "intimate moments".
this book tends to highlight the *wonderful* points of parenthood. i have a 2 year old and i was able to relate to most of the book. i think it is a wonderful book that looks at the not-so-pretty truths of parent/motherhood. it is a great laugh and would make a great gift for any parent or parent-to-be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner in this collection, March 11, 2004
I love every book this man has put out! The pictures are priceless but then you add the little comments at the bottom and they become hysterical. I found the comment from the lady who's mom bought her the book because she was expecting her first child very comical and have a feeling that once she has that child, she will find the humor in the book because almost every single page has happened at one point or another if you have children. Kids are hard work but they are also the single most important thing you'll ever do and are an endless source of joy. I give these books as gifts a lot and they always bring a smile and most of the time, burtst of laughter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful cations and pictures., February 11, 2010
As with all of Bradley Trevor Grieve's "little picture books", this one was a joy to read. I really enjoy reading through his books and always find an inner peace when I do. He touches on so many subjects with humor and deep insight. I have used his books as gifts many times. There is always a book for whatever occasion arises. And it will make you feel better about life in general!
