4.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Ned, March 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Incredible Ned (Hardcover)
This is a great book that my 5 year-old thoroughly enjoys. I recently read this book to his Kindergarten class, and the kids loved it. They loved the way the book's prose rhyme, and the excitement of the fact that the school children in the book really could "see" what Ned said! After reading the book, the class discussed what they would do if they had Ned's ability. It was a great learning experience as well as enjoyable for the children.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Incredible Ned (Hardcover)
I like this book because I like art, and I like the idea of the story. My favorite part is when the art teacher comes and figures out why Ned's words appear over his head.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Book for Teachers!, July 16, 2000
By A Customer
This story is about a young boy named Ned. When Ned was oneyear old, his parents discovered that he had a special talent. Everytime Ned said a word that named a thing, the "thing" appeared over his head. When he said the word "gorilla", a gorilla would appear. This became a problem when Ned started to school. Classmates would yell, "WE CAN SEE WHAT YOU SAY!" The teacher became upset because very little work was being done in the classroom. In hopes of finding a solution to this problem, Ned was sent to the school nurse, band teacher, French teacher, and to the principal . As a last resort, the principal gave Ned a choice. He could stand in the hall or say nothing at all. It seemed as though no one understood Ned, until the art teacher came on her usual day. She knew why those things had shown over Ned's head. Do you?

A Note to Teachers: This book can be used to incorporate community within your classroom. This book reminds us that every child is different and has special talents. In order to meet the needs of every child, we must remember to include the arts in our teaching.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4th time I've bought it, January 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Incredible Ned (Hardcover)
We originally found this book at a second hand store for our little boy. We have since bought is as a gift over and over. It is written in clever Suess-like rhymes with a fantastic message of the importance of individual expression and being proud of who you are. Plus. the art teacher is the heroine (how often does an art teacher get to save the day?) The illustrations are charming. We started reading it to our son at 6 months old and are still reading it regularly at 4. Note: I did order another book by this author and was very disappointed in its message.
