Book Description

December 30, 2006
The Incredible Pomegranate has been written for fruit-growing enthusiasts, what we like to call a gardener's pomegranate book. All the growing and culture requirements are included. But it is much more than just how to grow pomegranates. There are tales of trips to far-off places in search of pomegranates and people. You will read descriptions of so many different pomegranate varieties, including ornamentals, that it will seem that there is no end. Then you will read comments from different tasting sessions where people try to decide which variety they like the best. The Incredible Pomegranate tells you about the many uses and great medical benefits of this miracle fruit. Gardeners will appreciate the lists of nurseries that sell some of the different varieties, as well as a way to get cuttings of some of the exotic varieties from Central Asia. Included are 17 pages of color photos. .

4.0 out of 5 stars Incerdible Pomegranate: Plant and Fruit, December 4, 2011

This book is somewhat laid back, yet full of very informative descriptions of many Punica cultivars. The 'Propagation' chapter is particularly useful to the new grower. Numerous sources for a lot of the cultivars is also very useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Resource Book, February 11, 2007

This review is from: Incredible Pomegranate: Plant and Fruit (Paperback)
Although some information in this book has been included in CRFG "Fruit Gardener" magazines, consolidated that information along with new information in this book has been a valuable resource for me. This book includes comprehensive propagation information, several lists of cultivars with descriptions, and growing advice. I purchased the electronic version but am now considering purchase the print version, despite the higher price. I believe I'd find it handy to have copies of both since it's easy to search for a term in the electronic copy but sometimes flipping from section to section would be easier in the print version. Thanks for a fine book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful for some., December 23, 2006

The paperback version sold here is rather expensive compared to the electronic edition (only $7) available from the publisher, Third Millennium Publishing.

If you are not a reader of the CRFG publication "The Fruit Gardener", then the electronic edition is well worth the investment. You will find the quality of photos in the electronic edition is better.

However, if you do read "Fruit Gardener", you will be disappointed to find that the majority of the book is material previously published in that periodical, or repeatedly referenced by the magazine, or found elsewhere in college-level horticultural textbooks, Agriculture Extension publications, etc.
