This review is from: The Incredibles: The Essential Guide (DK Essential Guides) (Hardcover)
Stephen Cole's DK tie-in to the upcoming Incredibles is great fun. In particular for the kiddies, and for some adults who want to get the heads up on the upcoming Pixar-Disney film. The photos picked from the movie show how Pixar keep getting better and better in those films. The realism and depth are amazing.
The guide does an excellent job on presenting the characters and setting, without giving away the ending or other aspects of the plot. Economical for all the material presented, and the pictures do invite a second or third look. I'm anxious to see the movie. It's about six weeks away, and now more than every I'm ready to see it. Wonder what tie-in books, DK will release next year. How about Jimmy Neutron Sincerely, JThree

Fun book.,

Unlike the 'Shark Tale' and 'Finding Nemo' Essential Guides, this one didn't provide much valuable information beyond the film itself, but it explains the movie as well as can be expected and, for fans, is worth owning if only because of the really great pictures. They're large, clear, and colorful, and loads of them are smothered onto each page.
Comments? For one thing, there's a picture of Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible & Frozone/Lucius Best getting caught by the police after rescuing people from the fire. Though they're clearly in a jewelry store, the caption reads: "...{they} accidentally find themselves breaking into a bank!" It goes on to say: "The fact that they look like bank robbers..." Jewelry store robbers. *cough ahem* Small error. There are some nice shots of Edna Mode's phat crib (aka, cool house.) If only they'd included one of her impressive aquarium. As always, a two-page spread is devoted to each important character. *claps* Yay! The settings and machines are also featured. On the whole it's definitely fun for kids and fans.

This guide to the movie "The Incredibles" includes a lot of nice scenes from the movie, and Pixar's CG artwork is just amazing. This book will allow you to see it up close, and it will give you time to admire the details because when watching the movie, the scenes zip by too fast to be examined.
The weak point of this book is the text. You won't learn anything by reading this book. It contains mostly brief teasers about what will be in the movie which may have been interesting before seeing the movie, but worthless after seeing the movie. If you're buying for a child, I think this book would be suitable for them, but if you are buy for an adult or more discriminating child, it would be better to buy the more detailed "The Art of the Incredibles."

Unlike the "Artwork" book (see my other review), this one is great for the kids or the casual fan. This one is the Incredibles that you know and love (like me), with a few extra tidbits of information.

This large and brightly colored book is a great gift for the young Incredibles fan you know and love! It is chock-full of many images from the movie, and has lots of interesting bits of information. What is covered in this book? Mr. Incredible, Bob Parr, Elastigirl, Helen Parr, Violet, Dash, Jack-Jack, the Parr family home, Bob's den, Insuricare, The Incredibile, Frozone, Edna Mode, E's Laboratory, Fallen Heroes, Syndrome, Mirage, the Omnidrone, Nomanisan (Island), and Syndrome's island base. Each subject gets two large, facing pages.
This is a great book, and sure to be a hit with any young Incredibles fan. I bought this book for my nephew and he loves it. (Indeed, I read through it before I turned it over to him.) So, if you of someone you know is an Incredibles fan, then get this book for them. It's great!
