Book Description

December 21, 2010 Harlequin Nocturne (Book 104)
To save his kind, Meical Grabian agrees to participate in a dangerous experiment. One that takes his vampire's thirst for blood and leaves him hungering for something new. An incubus can be sated only with passion—but what woman could love what he's become?

Yet when Caroline Bengal finds him abandoned in a snowy wood, she senses his emotional turmoil and brings him to her desolate cabin. Caroline's compassion and earthy beauty tempt the hunger Meical has desperately been keeping at bay. And soon Meical is visiting Caroline's dreams, seducing his prey while she sleeps.

But another predator has set his sights on Caroline, with more sinister intentions. If Meical is ever to reveal his true nature to Caroline, he'll have to earn her trust…and keep her alive.

deep romantic fantasy December 22, 2010
Format:Mass Market Paperback
He agreed to the radical medical experiment in hopes of saving vampire-kind from extinction. The alchemist changed vampire Meical Grabian, but not in ways he wanted. When he awakens several months after the transformation was performed, Meical finds he has become an incubus who needs extreme levels of passion for sustenance.

Meical saved Caroline Bengal the empathy from a psychopath just as he began the experimental conversion. In the Poconos he does not remember doing this, but feels an urge to reach out to her. Caroline is confused by her attraction to the incubus, as she feels this obsessive need to help Meical; he, in turn, feels a deep gut need to have her by his side. However, a third party wants Caroline and is willing to kill to take her.

The strength to this deep romantic fantasy is the yin and yang interpersonal connection between the lead couple. The other member of the triangle adds tension to the exciting story line. However, the relationship between Meical and Caroline brings profundity to the entertaining plot as each wonders if his need for her is chemically induced or heart felt.

Better than dark chocolate January 3, 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book is a keeper. I read it in eBook format, and knew I'd want to share it with friends, so when it became available in print, I bought two more. Why two? There is no way I'd give up my personal copy. When I say keeper I really mean it. This way I have a paperback to share, one to keep, and an eBook to enjoy as well. I believe the highest compliment one can pay an author is to purchase his or her book.

This one is so good I bought it three times.

The world of Ms Jones is full and vivid. There is depth to each character, whether main or supporting. Their motivation, conflict, desire, hunger, fear, love... all are on tantalizing display.

Janet Elizabeth Jones writes a feast of words. Consider this opening of the short prologue: "Alone. Neither dead nor alive. But it was better than the pain." And in chapter one: "Caroline drank down the deluge of emotions around her, soaked up the haggard feelings like gravy. Serene and resolved, she ignored the contorting shadows in her cabin, the dance of darkness with his coy mistress, light."

Meical and Caroline fit together as perfectly as the words in the quote above, and it defines their personalities and hearts. Meical is a dance of darkness, and Caroline is his coy mistress, light. From the powerful opening to the satisfying end, Incubus is brilliant, unforgettable, and a joy to read.

Too much going on in one story February 20, 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Admittedly, it's not a bad book because I did want to finish it. But there is too much going on: the vampire turned Incubus, the attacked empath on the run for a killer, two children needing Caroline's help from their drunk father, a strange subplot with the Alchemist and his brother... it is just too much to tell within the confinement of less than 200 pages.

The end felt contrived and a little far-fetched. I did not particularly like Meical only making love to Caroline in her dreams; it made me wonder how they came to proclaim their undying love for one another in the end.

I liked the author's way with words, but she should definitely dare to make choices in what plots and subplots she should and should't include in a story.
